Reasons to believe the remake will be 3 parts:
In the final Ciel sensei it's said that, blue glass moon = present, red garden = past, maybe a third game will be future?
Sacchin's reveal in the preview for red garden comes after the title reveal, unlike the other heroines. Some people are speculating this represents her route will be in a third game.
Assuming Sacchin has a route, having twice the number of routes in far side than near side seems unbalanced.
A lot of speculation as to a third game assumes the existence of a 'true' arc route. There's no way this would fit in red garden.
Nasu straight up alludes to doing a 'final combined route with Arc as heroine' if he kept the school hallway as the location of the final battle in Arc's route.
Arc's dialogue in the prologue and the weird 'refrain refrain...' dream Shiki has are still mysteries. Could be true Arc route foreshadowing.
Arc only having one ending in the remake might be because she's getting a true route in the future.

Everything about the redesign works great except the head, although looking at the Meltan promo art makes me see what they were going for more than the VN, where the character just looked cooler with long hair.

SHIKI-Roa's design seems to me to be an attempt to merge a contradictory refinement and feralness, like Roa's original refinement as a high-ranking clergymen and archmage is showing through SHIKI's grunge, pieced together from whatever was on hand by what is essentially a homeless teenage boy who never got the chance to grow up because he was too busy having a mental breakdown. He's supposed to look a little wild and unhinged, yet still has a sense of foppish composure and... slitheriness.

He's got a lot of elements you'd expect in an ikemen anime villain/vampire design, but there's something unseemly about him that makes him not quite attractive the way, say, Gilgamesh would be - kind of similar to Cornelius Alba, whose attempt at youthful beauty is a façade. Incidentally, Gilgamesh, Alba, and SHIKI-Roa actually occupy similar roles in their respective stories - they're more emotive, smug, rape-y villains than the Jouji Nakata antagonist they're partnered with and tend to be motivated in part by their entwined resentment and admiration for a heroine (or Touko). Though, the original Roa is more like Kotomine or Satsuki Kurogiri (they even use the same book metaphor for their interaction with Akasha, although so does EMIYA as a counter guardian).

The new design's hair looks like some compromise between Gil's slicked back hair and Agravain, or even Gilles de Rais... Which still fits, really, but it honestly just looks awkward, and is less unique than the hairstyle he originally had, which made his character design significantly more distinct. Combined with the bitchin' belt, though, he does kinda look like a rock star now, which still gets across the same paradoxical feeling of wildness and finesse. There was a meme back in the day in the Japanese community that Roa looked like a piano teacher, so maybe they were trying to make him look less fruity while still being flamboyant in a different way. By far the coolest new addition to him is the Serpent of Akasha crest, which is totally badass looking.

The long black hair of the old version served to contrast with the white of his dress shirt and give his silhouette more volume, like a cape would, which is probably why, in the manga, Sasaki Shounen gave him a long coat to wear over his shoulders like a mantle while his hair was white like SHIKI's. That's the coolest version of his design to me, and I don't think the new design surpasses that, which is a shame. It seemed like a no-brainer to just give him the coat in the remake, but I guess he's intentionally supposed to look a bit dweeby? Him tossing that coat away in the manga was a fucking death flag, and so was his hair shortening in TsukiR lmao.

It's kind of like how Sakura is full of worms in every route, but only gets a resolution in HF.

Anyway, it's completely ambiguous how much Kohaku and Roa are aware of each other as actors in the overall plot of Tsukihime. After SHIKI went nuts because of Roa's latent dead apostle hungers compounding the mental pressure of his inversion impulse and Makihisa locked him in the basement, Kohaku got thrown to him like a chew toy. She was eventually assigned to act as his caretaker, forming the synchronization bond to bolster his willpower and cause him to become lucid, but also doping him continuously. This prevented Roa from truly beginning the reincarnation process to the extent Arcueid did not sense that he was active. SHIKI was easily suggestible while drugged and grew to trust Kohaku as a result of constantly relying on her.

Makihisa coincidentally dies the same time SHIKI "escapes", and we later learn Kohaku released SHIKI, so along with some implications from Akiha and SHIKI himself, it's pretty clear what probably happened there. At least in Hisui's route, it's clear that Kohaku knows where SHIKI is hiding and has been having secret meetings with him wherein she's probably tending to his condition as usual with synchronization/drugs, which may be the reason why Roa remains relatively dormant in the far side routes (although SHIKI implies Roa is beginning to influence him in one of Akiha's dead ends during the fight with him).

In Ciel's route, Akiha orders Kohaku to tend to/restrain Shiki while he's succumbing to possession by Roa (though she obviously has no idea what the fuck is going on; maybe she suspects it's psychic backwash from SHIKI, but who knows). Shiki is crippled in bed with lethargy as he is wont to do at least once a route but is also flipping the fuck out as Roa is downloading into him. Kohaku comes to give Shiki medicine, but Roa interrupts this and compels Shiki ~specifically~ to rape Kohaku. Going all the way locks you out of Ciel's good end, but they swap spit one way or another, which is enough to form a synchronization bond. This gives Shiki (and by extension Roa) the oomph necessary to escape the Tohno mansion.

Beyond this, SHIKI certainly seems to be acting mostly on his own in Near Side and perhaps even Akiha's route, but there's absolutely no way to tell. Given the above, Near Side or Far Side may be predicated on whether Kohaku was able to keep in contact with SHIKI, which determines whether Roa is able to manifest or not. Maybe Roa put knowledge of the inherent dead apostle bounded field that hides you in a pocket space in the backside of the world in SHIKI's head, so Kohaku couldn't find him later. We just don't know for sure.

Incidentally, Roa calls her "the basement doll" in MBAACC and tries to strike up a conversation, but Kohaku feigns ignorance and it becomes a gag scene because Kohaku in Meltan is a joke character incapable of having a conversation about anything of actual meaning.

Yes, I really enjoyed it since Tsukihime was an integral part of me growing up. Imagine a teenager who gets obsessed over Harry Potter or Steven Universe or whatever the fuck. That was me with Tsukihime and Melty Blood back in the day. I used to be really chuuni and pretend that I could see people's lines of death. I'm 29 now.

It's honestly a dream come true to read the whole thing with full voice acting. Akiha is my favorite character so it sucks that they split the routes but I hear that they already started working on the far side. Also, I don't really like her deep voice, but it's whatever.

I really liked the cinematography and use of backgrounds and cut ins. I don't play many VNs but I think they're the first to do this sort of thing. They really learned how to keep the screen interesting due to making all of those KnK and FSN movies.

I only vaguely remembered the near side due to all of the people, places, events, and dates they throw at you, but for some reason the Remake was pretty easy to follow. Maybe I'm just older.

It's interesting that Arc seems kind of shafted. Her route is like an introductory route. Ciel definitely steals the show and seems like the main heroine. I really like all the new weapons and armor she gets, it made me really interested in the Burial Agency, whereas before I didn't really care at all.

Despite that, I actually grew to hate Ciel and her Mary Sueness. It seemed that she was kind, sexy, literally invincible, and powerful enough to fight True Ancestors. But this was all redeemed in the end (on purpose?) when Ciel gets repeatedly crushed and killed on screen for like 2 hours. God that was satisfying to watch.

It was weird at the very end when Arc just accepted her romantic defeat but whatever, they had to end the story somehow. Actually the final fight at the end was pretty cringe, it felt like it was ripped out of FSN. Tsukihime is supposed to be about secret plots and murders that take place in dark alleys and old mansions. Oh well.

Noel and Roa were the absolute best characters for me. I sympathized with Noel and I felt that she had great motivations and reasons for her goals. As for Roa, I literally did not give a fuck about him in the original, he was just like a faceless, insane, evil villain. But in the remake. I found him to be very charismatic and intelligent. I still can't forgive him for all the pain he caused, but you could argue that he was just a gud boi who fell down the wrong path in life.

It was also surprising that I liked all of the new characters. I expected some of them to feel like "invaders" or Mary Sues, but no. They're all likeable and fulfill their roles well. I actually liked them better than Arc and Ciel.

The biggest flaw is that there is no rape. We're supposed to believe that Shiki is being possessed to do evil, heinous acts, but he never thinks of raping these young hot bitches around him 24/7. Some of the major themes of the story are man vs beast, reason vs instinct, sex vs violence, etc. so the removal of all references to rape is really jarring. Oh well, it's nu-Type Moon. Nothing can be done.

Anyway, it was a really fun and long ride, but boring in some parts due to Nasu's autism, and sterilized sometimes due to being a console game. I'm glad I imported it. Also, I like Arc's miniskirt and Ciel's Mashu haircut.

Not that anon, but Noel's character dynamic and grudge against Ciel is very well done. Her flashback is pretty intense, and it successfully makes her pretty sympathetic. Many writers fail at that step. As for Roa, his role in Ciel true is pretty nice. He actually sounds like a researcher/intelligent type of character for the first time.
