So in the true end...
It was necessary for Okabe to fail once to cause the Okabe and Daru of the future to initiate Operation Skuld and send Suzuha back, correct? This is to ensure that on the first go Okabe does not just save Kurisu and cause the "death scene" to not appear which would've caused a time paradox (I guess like Ever17)? Hence, on the second go Okabe had to work to recreate the very same scene to fool the original Okabe of chapter 1 (which in turn triggers the events of the game).

What wasn't clear to me was how they could just go back in time a second time to change things, wouldn't that just conflict with their first go? It's not like they were on a different 世界線, were they?

What chapter/part are you at?

It's explained that physical time travel changes the divergence a tiny bit, just enough to avoid running into another time traveling version of yourself.

I just finished it. Best game I've played in a long time.

Guess I wasn't paying attention then and the meter moved, thanks Anonymous. What about my first question?

You have it right, the whole thing was a set up to avoid creating a paradox, and keep cause and effect in place.

I assume reading steiner doesn't 'activate' the meter doesn't show up because the change isn't big enough.

I was playing the demo of this for the longest time, I seriously think its just the full game with saving disabled.

Knight-haruto gets mentioned once in the game I recall but that's about it. You see FES on the billboards too.

No. From stuff I read online, in a short story in Nitroplus Complete (I think the mag was called) written by Naotaka, Sena-shan did bump into Okabe some time in 2009.

Care to tell us without spoilers OP why is the game so awesome and why it leads the EGS ratings now?

>> No.3653851

Steins;Gate is a science fiction story based around various forms of time travel. It goes into details on the theories and physics of how time travel works, but keeps it interesting. Everything is connected by cause and effect, and it keeps you busy puzzling out the events as you read it. It's probably easiest to draw a comparison to Ever17 in that regard. The story is just really well done, and it's hard to say much more without venturing into spoilers.

The characters have interesting and fairly unique personalities, but are a bit more likable than the characters from Chaos;Head.

The overall production quality (music, voice acting, art, etc) is top class.

The main writer is the same person who wrote Chaos;Head (林直孝), but the writer of Sumaga (下倉バイオ) is credited as assisting, and his influence definitely shows. Some of the best qualities of both games can be seen as a result.

It's leading on the EGS rankings because it's just that good.

>the writer of Sumaga (下倉バイオ)
He's also the writer of Gekkou no Carnevale.

I really hope someone, be it Nitroplus themselves or TL Wiki, will port it on PC. Meanwhile, does anyone have the CG pack? OST rip would be nice, too.

I think this Anonymous pretty much sums it up. The pacing and individual routes is better than Ever17 in my opinion though I'll say now that I didn't think really highly of Ever17's pacing of individual routes. The cause and effect connection can also be likened to how it was done in 12RIVEN if you played that.

While I wasn't a big fan of the _CGs_, I liked the sprites and really enjoyed the dialogue and the voice acting. Like "Desire Blue sky", I really enjoyed "Another Heaven" as they played it during the credit roll.
