Disgust, discrimination, hatred, open insults, refusal of service in hotels and restaurants.
All on top of the usual anti-gaijin bias you'll have to deal with.

Enjoy!

You should try the south-east UK/London some time. Out of the dozen or so fags I know, only one hasn't been put in the hospital for it.

Depends where you go/for how long.
If they stick to the tourist-y areas, they'll be fine, sure. He didn't mention anything about that though.

>> No.3645152

Not much differently from how it is treated here in America. It's satirized by the mainstream media which leads to people thinking gay people all act like Hard Gay.

I don't like the concept of "Gay Pride".

>> No.3647965

I think the main point is that relationships are much closed when in public anyways, so whether or not you are gay shouldn't matter since it probably wouldn't be the best idea to show any kind of display when outside period.

>> No.3648071

>>3645027

don't flaunt yourselves around like gays tend to do and you'll be fine wherever you go. aka, be normal. being gay is alright. being all touchy touchy is never alright in public.. even for straights.

>> No.3648099

>>3647965

This is pretty much it. Relationships are much more private in Japan for the most part, gay or straight. So just avoid public displays of affection/whatever and you're probably fine. Though then again unless you're in really rural areas or areas full of ex-pats you've got tourist-foreigner status so no one is going to pay much attention to social faux pas. Avoid ex-pat hangouts at all costs, they're all territorial douchebags who will start fights at the drop of a hat.

>> No.3648105

I hope they hang queers in Japan too.

>> No.3648109

Pass for straight and it's entirely possible that no one will think anything of it

Of course, other details like your countries of origin and skin colors and how well you speak Japanese could alter things. Areas that see a lot of tourists and other foreigners should be fine, I imagine.

Basically fall back on that old travelers' advice: when in Rome, do as the Romans do

>> No.3648158
