I already buy what I want over the internet, but it's always nice getting some new figs. And even though most figs and related merchandising are usually overpriced, there are some cheap things too. Last year I got a nice Ryougi Shiki for like 25€, so yeah.

99% of european cosplay is horrible.
Only the German ones are sort of average, from what I've seen.

Saló del Manga in Barcelona. Spain (and specially Catalonia, dunno why) is full of weeaboos so there's always a lot of people, which probably can be considered a bad thing since most of them have bad taste/are annoying. There's also special guests (last year we had JAM Project and Yoshiyuki Tomino) and overpriced merchandising. So yeah, just your usual convention.
