Recently I've been thinking and really appreciating the nature of Miku.
Her flexible canon, being able to morph to fit one's tastes and needs like real life Rei Toei is sure amazing and unique on its own, but there is many things more. Like how 4th wall breaking she is. Born in the boundary of between virtual and reality she is unlike other fictional characters people only perceive in a self-contained fictional story. Miku is not bound anywhere, she continues to live as long as people make songs with her, for each end someone will make new start. The best most people can do is rewatch their waifu's source material, but that eventually gets old, while I can listen to her everyday and not get tired of it, no matter if its old stuff or new content that keeps being produced all these years. Hell, what other girl can tell you that she does not care if she is virtual and just wants to be with you? Or sing about 2D love itself like in Love Letter to an Imaginary Girl? I believe this allows to form unique bond with her, that regular characters can't possibly archive. I've always been a fan of structurally subversive, meta stuff, and she really is overarching like that.

To be honest, I think KAFU's popularity will goes along with the increase of Kamitsubaki's talents popularity. The more well-known they are, KAF's usage by the producers will increase too. I downloaded Project Sekai and holy fuck I do not give a shit about literally any character but the cryptonloids. I would care more about fucking Otone Peke if they were in this game. The entire premise of "loids hewp siwwy idol gurls and fembois becom idols !!!!" is so fucking stupid, the other characters have some of the most generic voices and the designs are so bland. The only way to make this game redeemable outside of the rhythm game would be if the cryptonloids had helped the other characters become a producer or make an utau, something that actually revolved around vocaloid other than "miku's here ! don't you see ! vocaloid haha!"

It's possible to enjoy the game with minimal exposure to the non-Vocaloid characters. That's how I play it. Only use Vocaloid character cards, only play songs with Vocaloid-only vocals, skip through any dialogs that aren't Vocaloid characters (and skip through the non-Vocaloid parts of dialogs that do have them). The actual game part is actually pretty fun as a rhythm game, and if you can ignore the gacha it's free. I haven't spent a single yen on it and don't plan to.
