I have never beaten the first level of 1942.

Will I have trouble with Touhou?

Word to the wise: Don't play EoSD. Cirno will fuck your shit up!

He wouldn't even get to her, since she's on the second level.

No one's THAT bad that they can't get past Rumia. No one!

>> No.3602367

has there been a smash tv touhou variant yet?

>> No.3602372

No, because you can outrun nearly everything in Touhou.

>> No.3602677

That's only because Newfags like you only play on easy

>> No.3602698

Touhou should have a dynamic storyline with mission branches where your performance in past levels determines the difficulty of the next stage.

>your performance in past levels determines the difficulty of the next stage
If I recall correctly, EoSD had a increasingly difficulty system that reseted when you bombed or died, then it began increasing again.
Not sure if they kept the system in PCB and after.

Only EoSD had the rank system. PCB to the latter ones didn't had it.

There was one, didn't you ever notice how spellcards got REALLY easier after you died after a long time without bombing/dying?

>> No.3602811

I tried to get into touhou. I played PCB on hard and the best I could do was beat it with 2 continues. I quit touhou after that.

There's a little rank in PCB, one of the more noticeable being Lyrica's opener. Try perfecting the stage portion of four and compare the attack to one coming out of a poor run.

I'm not immediately good at a game! fuck this shit!

If you wanna get good at hard, man up and play lunatic.

Well,

It's probably a bad video to show what a high rank can do, but I hope you can see it.
There are some other hacked rank videos too, and they're pretty amazing.

as in...after like 50 attempts

That's not enough. Chip away at them, these games aren't meant to be cleared in an hour or two, especially for someone new to the genre. Also, the games in this series are more forgiving than most other shmups.

A quick practice run to back up the PCB rank statement. There's a definite difference between the bullet spreads of Lyrica's opener before and after death.
