Rin is 100% on board with killing Sakura because "muh mage rules" despite the fact that she used her most precious gem to save Shirou because she didn't want Sakura to be sad (and because she likes him I guess).

And ultimately, as much as HF might want to tell us that abandoning his ideal led to a happier ending, it kinda backfires because of Archer.
If no Emiya Shirou ever followed his dream, Archer wouldn't exist. If Archer doesn't exist, then Shirou and Sakura are fucked, because no Archer Arm.
Archer's arm is literally the only way Shirou could've defeated Berserker, Saber Alter and saved Sakura. As he never even uses his own projection magic in HF, only relying on Archer's arm.

Will the remake be manageable for someone with so little experience? I ask because I always see online how difficult Nasu's works are supposed to be. Rin is stuck between the love for her sister and her legacy as a Tohsaka Magus, which includes protecting Fuyuki from supernatural threats, like her sister is becoming. Everyone in that route is struggling with the sins of their fathers, and it's the only route where that struggle happens and they overcome it.

The narrative is that Shirou will be true to himself and will refuse to buckle down, whether it's the world telling him to stop or it's his alternative future self telling him to stop. He will not give in, he will persist on this path no matter what. If someone tells him his way is wrong, he'll simply surpass them and keep moving forward. Ultimately, Shirou's will is too strong, and no one has the strength of will to defeat his mentality. In Unlimited Blade Works, Shirou is the strongest, so the fact that he persists on his path means that everyone else is weaker than him, at least in terms of willpower. Nasu makes it clear that despite how much the narrative might call that ideal a "fake" it doesn't matter as long as it's meaningful to Shirou himself. Hence why UBW beats you over the head so much with "fake vs original". Shirou surpassed Kiritsugu. He surpassed Archer. That's all there is to it.

The most basic things about Heaven's Feel, my dear anon, is that it is garbage, and here's why.

1. It's not even a proper Route since Nasu merged the Illya and Sakura routes together.
As Sakura's Route was the shortest one, but ended up the longest afterwards.

2. Nasu didn't even stay true to what he intended.
The True Ending is a wish fulfillment fantasy nonsense.
Shirou was meant to die originally, but Nasu pussied out.

3. Nasu knows damn well that Heaven's Feel is trash and ruined Sakura's reputation.
Otherwise he wouldn't have written CCC with trying to improve Sakura in mind.

4. Nasu was scared that the anime would reveal Heaven's Feel's inconsistencies, which I pointed out over and over, that you dismissed.
Turns out, when you cut out the cheap melodrama with Saber Alter, remove Shirou's self-flagellatory narration and cut down Rin's out-of-character bitch attitude, you get a much better product.

Once again, anon. Heaven's Feel is garbage. Pretentious. Hypocritical. Shallow.

Same here, the movies were 90% an improvement over the VN, with the only exceptions being the Kotomine fight and not explaining the puppet properly in the epilogue. I watched them with an anime-only friend who hadn't watched KnK, and he thought Sakura was hallucinating in the end.

I watched HF3 before reading the VN, and I gotta say, they didn't focus on a lot of shit that were pretty important. It's only when I read the VN that I realized just how much Archer's arm was affecting Shirou. Also Illya and Kirei were both better in the VN imo. Illya's sacrifice doesn't hit as hard as it did in the VN, and I don't have to tell you about how they messed up Shirou vs Kirei. At least they did Sakura and Rin justice, I suppose.
