It's okay to be confused because the explanations aren't really consistent. How I understand it, Roa is kind of like more of a primal urge/instinct. Tsukihime has a lot of hidden stuff. On this re-read, I somehow got a dead end that didn't lead to a ciel-sensei segment. I'm not sure if that's a bug in the original game or not. It's the same dead end as the one in Arc's route where Roa kills you if you collapse in school that one day. But there's different ways to get there and I magically got one that didn't have a Ciel segment. It just took me straight to the title screen after it said "End".

I assume the was early prototyping was done in 2013 after Mahoyo’s launched and they slowed down on that once they got the FGO contract whenever that was around 2014-15 they stopped working on it since writing for FGO was what they focused on and worked on Tsuki a bit. Once it launched and was a disaster was when they fully stopped with Tsuki. They said they asked ufo for a Tsuki PV in 2018-9 so I assume that they started development back up around then and when the Arc pic was in the fate museum. I believe COVID sped up development since Nasu was able to complete the script and was at home all the time.

I noticed when rereading FSN shortly after Tsukihime that when Nasu would do the repeating a word/phase over and over again to express madness/pain, what would have taken up an entire screen in Tsukihime was usually 3 lines in FSN, so I think his sense of chuuni changed a bit even back then.

The difference between the show and movies is the directing. The movie shows more close shots of Shirou’s face and can tell the audience how he feels with just that alone. The movie is better directed in general and it’s clear that the director understands the charcters better. It’s a shame the movies were too short and the movie doesn’t spend enough time on its charcters as the movie portrays them decently. The UBW anime isn’t bad, but it doesn’t do Shirou any favors while HF makes him a bit more relatable movie wise. Fukusawa is a very underrated composer. I absolutely love his score to the UBW anime. I could talk at length about how much I love it. The guy wrote over 600 cues of music for the show, and scored almost every scene with original music. He gave every character a theme, with multiple variations, and made over a dozen remixes the VN soundtrack. Not to mention the score featured three arrangements of Kajiura's Fate/Zero theme. He connected the music from the game, from Ufo's previous adaptation, and did a MONUMENTAL amount of effort in creating a whole world of music for the characters he was tasked with writing for.
