I've always been curious.
Why do the Japanese have such an extremely negative view of drug use?
It seems like something which is deeply ingrained in their culture, but they wouldn't have had things like marijuana in their country until after World War 2, would they?

>Why do the Japanese have such an extremely negative view of drug use?
Because they're not stupid like the westerners.

I didn't ask for your irrelevant opinion.

Only losers have positive views on drug use.

Are you surprised that they don't have a positive view of drugs or something?

It's like alcohol isn't considered a drug!

>> No.3560448

In a broader sense the Japanese don't seem to mind drug use too much, what with all the drinking.

Not particularly, just surprised that it's such a severe "YOU BRING SHAME TO OUR COUNTY" offense.

It's not really a phenomena unique to Japan, you know. When was the last time you saw a pro-drug piece on an American news station?

>> No.3560453

xenophobia.
Also, their neighbour, china, had a little run-in with it. Details were fuzzy after "raped and pillaged in a civil manner".

There was a pro-drug piece on medicinal marijuana here a few weeks back, can't remember the program, but it was sort of interesting. Think it was on either the ABC or SBS too, which was nice.

Not that rarely. Even news sometimes spins attempts to get it legalized as good. Marijuana I mean

>>3560448
Hadn't thought of that, but you bring up a point.

>> No.3560464

they censor their porn. do you really think they're going to openly embrace drugs?

>> No.3560483

But they lifted that band.
Although, when you consider the fact that companies still censor their material ANYWAYS out of cultural courtesy, I suppose that only furthers your point
