Then you might want to prepare them. Level their skills and star them up. Yukari's focus shot has hard on 0p and it can deal decent dmg when she has high yang def (her passive helps maintain it). One thing to keep in mind is that you can't really stall floors that hit your tanks weakness (mainly moon). In some floor, you can try to kill those mobs first before stalling.
Alternatively, you can try running Sanae, Yukari, Suika/Yuyuko. You only need one tank and one healer.

If your team is weak then you're likely not going to be able to beat any Lunatic stages that aren't 1 wave bosses anyway. In the last event I was able to kill Lunatic Reisen, Aya, and Marisa long before I could reliably farm any of the regular wave battle stages.

the biggest thing is that you can have multiple low-cost teams wich you can rotate thanks to the school, so as soon as one looses motivation, you can swap to the other one.

It's efficient just because a character with a Last Word will automatically use it immediately on the final wave on Full Auto, which will usually just destroy the boss if it's a low HP Lunatic boss or one that's weak to the element of the LW. It's really just the time saved over the course of the fight, if you only have weaker characters and are trying to just break barriers it's fine to not be MLB'd as long as you can kill them reliably. It's the speed and the fact that you can farm the map with one unit, or have 1 fighter + 5 level up buddies that makes it advantageous.

How? I tried using my LB1 Youmu to clear her and she was just inconsistent enough for me to add Sakuya. Does Ran's accuracy buff make that much of a difference? I'd imagine Youmu targeting Tewi's weakness would make up for Youmu's more lackluster atk buffs compared to Ran, since Ran definitely can't barrier break.

It does not change their skills and spell cards do not change at all besides doing more base damage. Patchouli's last word is still one of the worst in the game even with an attack stat higher than most characters because it has almost no secondary effects at all and a terrible elemental spread for breaking barriers. Patchouli's main use was always the elements on her regular spells which she still does just like before but with some more damage. This is not enough to suddenly make her a top tier character. Ironically the characters who will benefit the most from reincarnation are characters who are already loaded with good skills and spells or characters who are used for stalling like Mokou or tanks because they are usually just using stat sticks already. If they really wanted to have a big impact with reincarnation then they would have had to change elemental coverage or buffed skills. Patchouli still has the same weak set of skills she had before.

MLB Yuyuko or Suika for Tower? I don't have many Yin characters to go with Suika. Only enough dolls to MLB one of them before Tower hits.

I really like this game's OST when you're not constantly hearing the Greenwich remix. The song for the Kasen and Reimu fight is really good.

imo you will get more short-term value out of Yuyuko since she is also good for fighting Red Marisa. Depends on the card. Ran generally has Yang attacks and Medicine generally has Yin, so look for cards that boost those. Also, you can't go wrong with accuracy boosts.

Assuming you're a Global player we don't really have a ton of fully upgraded cards so some of the suggestions won't be useful for you if your characters have shit accuracy. Rule of thumb early on I think is use Accuracy cards like the phone and prismrivers cards on LW and things especially if your character doesn't have innate accuracy buffs, and stat sticks (think Overwhelming Power) otherwise.

Hi friend, just saw your post and I thought I would contribute my 2 cents.

Ran is a pretty straightforward character. She is an attacker with some party utility. As mentioned in a previous poster's reply she self buffs with the Yang Atk Up effect pretty effectively. Yang Atk Up is applied multiplicatively meaning that once you reach a certain stage you start experiencing diminishing returns. By raising her base Yang stat you are able to make the most effective use of that buff.

How you slot her is going to be entirely dependent on the purpose you intend to use her.
If you are going to use her to auto-farm than the best you can do with the current global meta is to slot in Lively Temple Grounds into all of her Spell Cards and Valued Tools of the Trade into her Last Word. As Ran's Last Word is an Only Yang attack and it does not benefit from any other stat LTG provides the highest level of Yang stat on all currently released story cards. You don't need to worry about MLBing them at this point as with the base card you are still able to enhance the card to 60% of its maximum possible stats, and you likely do not have enough tiles available to completely upgrade it even if you did happen to have 20 copies of the card lying around. Alternatives for LTG are the cards Standing Behind You, Flying Mysterious Shrine Maiden, and Drunkard Territory as they all provide decent Yang stat
Ran's LW has a 75% hit rate across the board so, baring any especially egregious enemy Eva buffing, the three stacks of Acc provided by VtoT should guarantee 100% hit rate on all bullets in her LW's barrage.

If you are intending to utilize Ran in a controlled manner for content outside of the tower it is important to focus on the buff provided by her first and third Spell Card, Shikigami: Chen Chen provides a partywide buff of 3 turns of 2 levels of Acc, with a 20% chance of an additional 3rd level. In most cases 2 levels of Acc is enough to guarantee 100% hit rate against an enemy. Not only does this free up Ran's SC and LW to slot in more offensively minded story cards, it also frees up her party members unless they happen to have especially abysmal hit rates, such as Flan. With a proper timing one can maximize the effects of her skills and spells cards to unleash a particularly devastating attack in conjunction with her party. Making use of Ran's skills Work of a Nine-Tailed Kitsune (Yang Atk Up 3 levels for 3 turns) and Shikigami Service (Yang Atk Up 3 levels 1 turn) and the inate ability of Chen you would aim for a three turn mission in which you use the first two turns to raise the party's Acc to it's maximum potential before before unleashing an all out attack by your entire party. By turn three all of your party will have four levels of Acc and you will be be ensured that all your attacks hit. To ensure that you are able to unleash a full boosted LW you will want to slot any Spirit Power Up card into Chen. Ideally you would aim to slot in The Witch of Scarlet Dreams as it provides an 82 Yang stat bonus at MLB +10 as well as a full 2.00 worth of Spirit Power. However you more than likely don't have that so It's Spring and Midnight Tea will both work, although It's Spring is to be favored as it possesses the highest Yang stat of the two.
For Ran's other Spell Card Shikigami: Protection of Zenki and Goki you will wish to use Lively Temple Grounds or one of the alternatives mentioned previously.
For Ran's Last Word I prefer to use Keystone for the 30% Earth Power up. While Yin and Yang buffs are applied multiplicatively, elemental, type, and killer buffs are applied additively. As the Earth element is active in the four strongest of the six bullets in the barrage it is the most effective constituent to buff for maximized damage. While Heavy type is also present on those same bullets, the maximum buff available for Heavy in global at the moment is 20%. If you do not have an MLBed Keystone either MLB Voice of an Echo (Earth Up 20%) or MLB Scarlet Win, White Win (Heavy Up 20%) will outclass an unMLBed Keystone. As neither of these cards have the Yang stat you may choose as you wish.
While it is tempting to consider building towards a focus on Ran's third skill Youkai Power Focus and it's Crit Acc buff, I have not met anything I could not burn down following the above mentioned build.

As for the tower I have not played it yet, so I can make no judgement and will offer no advice as I suspect it will be entirely dependent upon team composition and will feature much more extreme enemies than previously encountered which may cause me to revise my current set up.

However Medi is a much more complicated friend in that there are a number of factors governing how you use her including the decision of whether or not to MLB her and party composition. stats don't really matter as much as elemental coverage and the ability to buff/debuff yourself or teammates, and skills. things like accuracy up, yin/yang atk up are prized, which is why you see they added a ton of yin/yang atk up effects to her kit. Same with various "Slayer" skills that provide bonuses versus Youkai, etc.

Meiling was so dogshit because she had absolutely ZERO elemental bullets on her cards and barely any utility. Now she has access to Star/Earth as well as some useful slayer skills and a ton of attack buffing. She will definitely be usable for Meiling fans and hopefully a good farmer as well.

For reference, Toyohime having huge Yin Atk stat isn't why she's good, it's because she has massive elemental coverage and the ability to do bonus damage even vs enemies that resist her attacks, as well as slayer effects which give bonus power vs "Residents of Gensokyo". Which is pretty much every single character in the game.
