For me it's the music. Never have I heard music as beautiful and epic in a game series than I have in Touhou and that's not even an exaggeration. Not him, but for me it's the sheer soul put into it. Apologies for the buzzword, but I truly can't think of another series with its level of detail and lore so lovingly put into it, aside from maybe Lord of the Rings. Have you consumed all cannon materials? When I start getting “burnt out” I just go to the shit I haven’t read/played yet and it usually gets me all invested for a few weeks to a month again. I think breaks are important.
