Help me anons. I've lost the feeling of magic of Touhou gave me. Now when I listen to the music, play the vidya, and read the lore I don't feel the excitement anymore. It just feels like yet another medium. How do I regain the wonder I felt a couple of years ago?

Get into something new, get bored of that, and then rediscover touhou again

Just take a good break, give it some time, magic things tend to lost their magic if you make it too usual for you.
Read "spiritual" literature (Obviously you need to be open minded and comprehensive when reading sacred books like, idk, the Bible or the Bardo Thodol, even H.P. Lovecraft )
I put the quote marks because in the New Age not so much things (practically, nothing) can be considered truly mystical, and you know, the Gensokyo boundaries aren't there for no reason.
Maybe the luck smiles to you, dear anon

You have 2 option, try to put pieces together to form a good headcanon (basically rediscovering) or... You can read something, specially in philosophical or theological area to understand some concepts in touhou universe

And most important, don't use all the stimulus touhou gives to you, you'll run dry and get bored in that way

alternatively, listen to an old playlist you made. that usually does it if nothing else does.

The magic is gone. All you can hope for is nostalgia. Hold onto your music copies and whatever. You're going to regret getting rid of them.

You won't, it is part of growing up. Otaku culture is for adolescents, get into a real hobby like hunting or academic studies like history.

Strange, it always felt separate to me. Something I can always take comfort in returning to. I take breaks when I begin to burn out on it and when I return the love has deepened. I haven't been masturbating to the characters very much lately either so when I go back it'll be magical.

What aspects of Touhou make it feel different compared to other media? What about it draws your interest and always makes you come back for more?

For me it's the music. Never have I heard music as beautiful and epic in a game series than I have in Touhou and that's not even an exaggeration. I firmly believe that Touhou would not have been as popular as it is if it weren't for the amazing soundtrack that comes with every title. ZUN is a musical genius

There are people in their 30s and 40s that still love video games and anime. This is not a hobby that is separated by age demographic and has nothing to do with growing up.

Not him, but for me it's the sheer soul put into it. Apologies for the buzzword, but I truly can't think of another series with its level of detail and lore so lovingly put into it, aside from maybe Lord of the Rings. Just the fact that ZUN builds upon his creation so much and has turned down marketing deal after marketing deal in favor of total control makes me respect him like no one else.

>>35264488
You're a tool. I have interest in many fields of academics (linguistics, chemistry, history, anthropology, etc) but I still love Touhou. "Low-brow" and "high-brow" pastimes need not be mutually exclusive.

For serious advice - either take a break or try to add to the medium (fangames, fanart, music, etc.). Though I just got into 2hu and haven't experienced any sort of burnout yet nor with any other thing that I got into so my advice is mostly theoretical.

Have you consumed all cannon materials? When I start getting “burnt out” I just go to the shit I haven’t read/played yet and it usually gets me all invested for a few weeks to a month again. I think breaks are important.
