I wish to introduce my friend to danmaku shooters, but I don't want to scare him off with all the LOLIS AND WAIFUS AND FRILLY HATS of the Touhou series. Do you guys know of any PC bullet hell shooters that don't have such things? Hellsinker is the only one I can think of.

"Scare him off?" ZUN-brand Touhou? He's either ridiculously timid or sexually insecure. Exploitable either way.

Find one that's totally unfriendly to newcomers

The first time I played a Touhou game, EoSD, I didn't realize I was even controlling a flying shrine maiden (or witch). I really don't think the stuff you said would scare someone off.

I guess there are some other doujin shooters you could show him, but I can't remember any of their names and doujinstyle.com has long taken down its download section.

Hell, faggots will point at anything that is female without D+ size tits and call it loli.

loli is based on body size/physique. Age is irrelevant.

Samidare, RefleX, Blue Wish Resurrection +, Kamui are all good ship vs. ship games. If you have enough time you can sift through http://amit.dabydeen.com/doujin.html and try to find something he'd like.
Of course, there are plenty of good STGs on MAME too.

Why the fuck are there so many fucking embedded youtube links on a single page?

If your friend gets scared off by shit like that I wouldn't bother introducing him to anything.

There's Sonic Ironstorm, Demolition Gunner and Tank Domination, all by the same guy/company. You control a jet/helicopter/tank and blow the shit out of things. They're pretty fun and relatively easy.

Is this game supposed to slow down when there are lots of bullets on the screen like touhou slow mode, or does my computer suck?

Try one of the touhou mods that replaces the lolis with spaceships and dikes out the dialogue, looks a bit out of place at first, but that's only because you're not used to it. Also let's you plays in public. Though if you're playing one of those levels with anything that looks like a swastika, use one of the mod's that turns the lolis into WWII fighter jets or else YOU WILL GET WEIRD LOOKS.

Forget the links to the mods at the moment but you should be able to find them fairly easily.

Ikaruga is for little girls.

Mushihimesama, DoDonPachi Dai Ou Jou and Espgaluda are all on PS2. CAVE or you are a casual.

>> No.3501612

playing anything in Yoko also makes you a casual.

Ironically you put Espgaluda in there, the easiest Cave game there is, its purpose being a shmup that isn't impossible to beat and allow more people into the genre.

>> No.3501704

motherfucking Raidan

>> No.3501712

Well a problem is that most of them are really fucking hard and unfriendly to newcomers so you might want to pick something they might actually be able to beat. rRootage for example is good because it has wide range of difficulty and with the way it's broken up you can still complete it even if you aren't a Japanese robot. It's not very engaging though.

Is that one emulated? I don't want to buy a damn Japanese PS2 or 360 to play these games.

>> No.3502479

>>3501717
Looks like a combination of strong legal and copy protection is preventing that, but DonPachi and DoDonPachi are easily emulable.
