Gold is worth so much mostly for historical reasons - there's plenty of materials rarer than gold (e.g. silver) that aren't as valuable.

Unfortunately the fact that gold is used as a 'money' standard has the side effect of inflating its cost, which is annoying because it makes gold expensive to use for the limited number of things it is actually useful for.

There has been an era in which Western traders got their gold from America, brought it to Europe to trade it for a shitload of silver. Which they brought to China, to retrade it for gold again, because silver used to be way more valuable than gold in China.

One of the main reasons for gold being so expensive is it's ability to resist corrosion and not reacting with most substances.

I doubt the amount shown would equal up to 1 ton of gold.

I don't see what's wrong with that, unless you have some amazing skill to tell exact weight by eyeballing a 2-dimensional drawing of an object I doubt you know the average weight of without googling. ಠ_ಠ

Not exact, but a rough estimate.
If you count the dimensions of the pyramid, you can estimate how many bars there are.
If you know the weight of gold per bar, you can easily estimate the total weight.

It's 1000k tons, not whatever weird variety you yanks use.
Japs use metric.
Also, this ingot pyramid seems to have some depth, suggesting that there might be two or more rows of ingots.
Lastly, independently of the specified weight, such an ingot would weigh well over 10kg.

>> No.3499696

There isn't even 100 ingots there, and it looks extremely flat thanks to the amazing art, so I can't say I believe there's any more behind it.

I refuse to believe that this, I counted around a little less than 60, ingots is equal to anything more than at the very most 1-3 tons. ಠ_ಠ

If you're going to talk about literal and exact measurements - take a look at the picture, those bars are far from being the exact same size as one another meaning their weight is not the same either. Meaning real-life measurements of perfectly done gold ingots would be wrong - as these shittily drawn bars of disproportionate gold are far from being the same weight and size as one another. ಠ_ಠ

If you want to be exact, the crest being engraved on them would take out a small bit of the weight.

And again, look at the image, those ingots are nowhere near the same size, you can't tell me I'm expected to believe DEEN gold weighs the same as real gold ingots when this gold doesn't even hold its form or shape properly. You guys say theres an average weight...but look at that bottom right corner and then the one next to it, that fucker is HUGE compared, and this is true throughout the stack of them. So yeah.

If you're going to be accurate, do it fully. Don't half ass it.
