You're right that slice of life isn't supposed to be boring, but some of the distinct qualities of a slice of life manga are that there are no conflicts and no end goal. It's supposed to be an inside look at the mundane and often arbitrary daily life of the characters. If you're expecting something particularly interesting and action packed to happen in a slice of life manga then you're only going to be disappointed, much as I have been with several others I've read.

Why do people get so assflamed about accents anyway? I don't like the exaggerated deep south translators typically use, but it seems like it upsets people to use anything other than some specific generic dialect of American english. If the characters says "hella", "eh", "wot", "dude", "noice", or anything like that, people freak. Hell, characters that speak in heavy slang or are rude enough that if they were English speakers there'd be more expletives in their speech than acceptable words aren't even allowed to be localized that way.

People who complain about accents/localization in the style of making people curse or making their speech unusual English usually lack a grasp on Japanese and thus aren't aware that Japanese is hugely "what you say AND how you say it", where a lot of meaning is conveyed in few, usually basic words/sentences, which doesn't fit with the variety of English.

Lefkadios at least posted here and asked for others inputs, was flexible enough about certain choices, and explained his reasoning which is much better than asking Clarste on his Tumblr or whatever why is such and such translated a certain way and he gets upset as to why he has to explain.

These days, patches are the slightly weird thcrap thing from thpatch centre. It ruffles a lot of feathers because it tries to connect to the internet to check for updates to all the meme translations every fucking time you play the patched game. However, it's a means to an ends and you can tell it to fuck off. Also I haven't bought a game on steam but I assume it works, worst case scenario is probably you have to be logged into steam when you run the english shortcut from a folder? Someone help me spoonfeed this guy

You can disable automatic updating from thcrap by deleting the thcrap_update.dll file inside the folder though so in case you don't want those "meme translations" you can disable them
