And to answer your question, no, American culture is not widespread at all, it's very typical for an American to assume the culture you have in your country couldn't have stemmed from anywhere else.

Culture is global, influence is global, so yes, American culture can be perceived in most western countries, but it doesn't mean it came from America though.
