Duolingo anon here.

For the ones in the back that still plans to use it too I'm still going with it, and it still does a somehow good job at integrating new words and kanjis in the lessons.
One limitation I'm starting to see though is that it doesn't actually teach you how to make your own sentence, unless there's a proper lesson about particles down the line but I doubt so. For example it does teach you about separate and combined kanjis like 名, 前, 日, 本, 語 and stuff but when asked to write "Can you speak Japanese?" it never taught you about the が so you'd just write 日本語 話せますか？ and only remember later that the ga is here by memorization rather than construction.
