If you wanna go full optimal, go for Youmu. Sakuya, Reisen, and Cirno are fine if you like them.

The only characters I would 100% reroll for are Reimu, Marisa, and Sanae, since everyone will get them.

To start you really just need Youmu.

Over time the other characters you want would be like... Tewi or Medicine, one of the S+ tier characters like Toyohime or Suika, and like... anyone else.

Personally although I haven't really bothered with the Tower (the rewards are not good enough incentive to try) I've had no trouble using Suwako / Toyohime / Youmu for nearly all encounters offered. Before I had the moonbitch Patchouli was also rather helpful

Story cards are basically like equipment for characters. They can boost your stats and some of them have really good effects. The Remilia and Lily White cards are super useful because they give you more P so that you can attack with fully boosted attacks more often. You can boost stats quite a bit with the right cards. All the + stuff is just from cards. In general characters are a lot more important than cards though. No reason to reset for cards.

Cirno is pretty much a worse version of Medicine in this game. She can inflict frost on enemies and her last word breaks all enemy barriers with frost on them. Medicine does the same thing but with poison except she can apply a lot more poison and there are more other characters who can also poison people. That's why Medicine is always in S tier while Cirno is either in the middle or near the bottom.

Did the global version start with Yuyuko on day 1? Was checking out the english wiki and they already have Yuyuko listed on it in full detail. Yuyuko was added pretty early in the jap version too. I think she was the first new limited character added after launch. She is still one of the best characters in the jap version 10 months later.

Depends on the card. Some cards are so good that they are useful on almost everyone so I find it better to spread them around. The Yuuka card is one of the most useful cards in the game and fusing all of them away would only allow a few characters to use them.

How likely/viable is a full fairy team

Here's a quick guide to LW.
There are two main activities in the game: errands and farming stages.
Errands: Errands are the main source of cubes. You can use up to three teams in a total of 18 chars. There are two types of errands: normal and urgent. There are two types of urgent errands: those that appear automatically two hours before and after reset (00:00 UTC) and those that appear after you spend stamina. For the second type, it will appear after you spend around 50 stams and you can spawn it 20 times per day.

Farming: There are two types of farming: story and event. Right now, you only have the story (farming Yukari) to do but we should have an event soon. Farming just boils down to spamming lw so unlocking strong lw is crucial. Right now, I recommend either Youmu or Ran for this job. One farming issue is stamina. If you plan to seriously farm events, you do not want to star up your farming characters since it will increase their stam cost. Also prepare your macro.

Rolling: So, you want one strong aoe lw char (Ran/Youmu) + as many as characters as possible.

Youmu, Ran and Reimu is already good to get by the early parts of the game. Game also hands out a free Sanae and Marisa so that is 5 characters at the very least. You need 6 to make 1 full expedition team. Assuming they are going to add Yuyuko's banner super early, I'd say just wait until that banner is out and then go all in on that. No point in wasting rolls in the standard banner ever and non-limited banners are only worth it if you really like the non-limited rate-up character from it.

Gacha's can't be expensive to maintain, and Touhou unlike some other gachas has a preestablished fanbase, has evergreen interest (as opposed to something like an anime series), and right now is currently, and sadly, growing in popularity.

Considering all Global really has to do is translate and not actually design content, it should be fine unless there are significant localizer issues.

Gacha localization is extremely cheap and profitable. For reference even a "big" gacha game that requires a lot of maintenance and translating like FGO only costs a couple hundred thousand a year to keep afloat and the game makes over a mil a month easily just in NA.

It's part of the new ascension system coming to JP at the end of the month. Basically you need the girl to be level 100 with everything maxed out you then proceed to delevel her back to level 1 and once you relevel her back 100 you get their bride outfit for free. So far only those 4 are getting it but they'll start rolling out some more later I assume.
