It would be awesome if they did, but for the moment I think they're only carrying concert goods and the like. I talked to Dave from JapanFiles at AX for a bit, he basically said that most anything's fair game if the demand is high enough...so it's possible that they'll eventually carry PBs.

Yeah, he was at Hello!Party after the MM concert during Anime Expo, getting familiar with the future customer base I'd assume. I bought a few DVDs from a guy there...Dave saw them, came up and asked me if I'd buy H!P DVDs from HelloStore if they sold them. I told him I absolutely would, and he thanked me and said he was just trying to gauge what would be good to eventually carry on HelloStore. He was doing stuff like that with lots of the fans at AX, actually.

Nobody here will ever be willing to admit it, but the reality is that they're doing a pretty job bad at keeping up with the competition in spite of their head start of several years.
To put it bluntly, if you've been an embarrassingly overzealous fan since the heydays what's left of the group today will probably mean something to you. To everyone else, it's just background noise, a thing of the past that has failed to live up to its former glory.
It's also worth noting that they no longer have any program of their own and in general are rarely seen on TV.

Head start of several years? What are you talking about, they have over a decade of history. Over the last couple years the bandwagon fans have tailored off to other groups through their lure tactics or just being angry about certain members graduating.
But the real truth is that they are on the upswing for the last 1 year and half and their last two singles have had a wide scale television campaign with the OG's and they are making appearances all over the place.
>if you've been an embarrassingly overzealous fan
Arashi troll detected although more subtle than usual.

>It's also worth noting that they no longer have any program of their own
As if having episode 600 of Akbingo is that much of a merit nowadays. If anything the newer idol groups stole the Musume weekly idol televison formula but never put the music out to back it up.
That doesn't mean that Haromoni and Yorosen weren't shitty though. And Bijo Houdan is no world beater either.
The ultimate bottom line is, every other idol group is routing for Musume to go down so they can clog up the head share of the industry but its not going to happen anytime soon.

I originally got into the H!P community through blogging, International Wota and whatnot. I'm not much of a forum-goer, so I never really posted on H!O or JPH!P or any of those places. Still, for the most part, the attitudes of the bloggers aren't much different from those of the forum fags, they just articulate better...so I lump them all together.

Attending AX was kind of a turning point for me...seeing the girls in person made me realize what being a wota is really all about. Shortly after that I got sick of the attitude most Western H!P "enthusiasts" have and eventually made my way to /jp/.

And the results are? I'm sorry but I see no changes whatsoever, much less any appreciable impact on the public's opinion, which is pretty much proof that only opinionated fans care about Morning Musume nowadays.
What's more, hadn't it been for the whole ruse of forcing fans to buy 500 different versions of the same single to get the same bonus content that could've easily been compacted to a single one sales would've been the exactly same.
Also, handshake events.

>As if having episode 600 of Akbingo is that much of a merit nowadays.
When you consider the viewer feeback, yes, it is. AKBingo has an average rating of about 4.5% every week. How does the other programs you mentioned stack up to it?
Also, fucking LOL at "stealing". Coming from a fan of a group which is admittedly ripped off Onyanko Club. I can't begin to express how much ignorance and self-righteousness it takes to spout off such statements. Hey, I guess Halo invented guns, too.
Fact is, MM wouldn't even exist today hadn't it been for Yasushi.

I love this mindset, seriously. I've read stuff like this so many times I'm starting to wonder if it's commonplace with every single one of you delusional cruds.
So what you are implying is that only Morning Musume deserves a place in the industry, while everyone else is just a thievering usurper and has no business taking its place.
Sorry, but that's not how a competitive market works. If a product is more popular, is qualitatively better and manages to always stay fresh, it's only the natural course of the events that it will replace the unpopular, outdated one.

This is pretty much what Tsunku has been doing when he realized his group had no pull whatsover. Glutting the market with thousands of low selling sub-units that had no appeal to the masses.
Does anyone really care about Kids? S/Mileage?
What about Buono? Must I remember you that those faggots at Stockholm banked so much on their popularity for the success of their convention that they had to cancel it altogether due to low ticket sales? LOL.

Just a general lack of dedication, lots of self-proclaimed "hardcore" H!P fans/wota getting into k-pop and AKB and whatnot. I guess if that's how they want to play the idol game, so be it, but I'm not going to stick around in a community that betrays the very girls it's supposedly centered around. I'm of the opinion that being a wota is about dedication and support for a certain idol, idol group or idol company. If the undedicated people I talked about were never into H!P in the first place, then I'd have little reason to disassociate myself from them. But they started out supporting H!P idols, and now they're supporting idols from all kinds of other places (or vice versa...the point isn't dedication to H!P, the point is dedication to one idol group - I just happened to first have my heart stolen by H!P idols, and that's where it's going to stay). It's a completely ignorant, careless, hypocritical approach to being a wota, and it pisses me off...so here I am on /jp/, where it seems that most of the wota actually know what's up.

Games, on the other hand, are simply a media form. They're not idols, they have no feelings, they have no need for a fan's exclusive continued support. The console wars are completely irrelevant to what these threads are about, so keep it out of them.

Would you please head back to where you crawled from?

See, faggots, that's one thing I'll never wrap my head around: people refusing to widen their horizons out of fear of the unknown but at the same time slinging mud at what they profess themselves against, always out of fear of the unknown.
I can understand why more sophisticated fandoms do this.
Buying a console needs money and beating a game takes time, so it's much easier insinuating sweeping generalization.
Reading a book or watching a film take hours to fully appreciate them, so aping someone else's opinion would do.
But you faggots have no reason for restricting yourselves. Listening to a song is 4 minutes, watching a program is 25 at most.
Either say right off the bat you are entrenched in your ignorance and don't wish to carry the debate further or make sure not to embarrass yourselves by acting like a chicken with its head cut off.

The point is that Morning Musume is a dying breed and needs to be put out of its misery as soon as possible before it can cause further harm. I can't stress this enough: when I see whatever H!P has done once the popularity started plummeting really fast I can't help comparing it with Atari bringing about the videogame crash in 1983, in that they both ruined the market for everyone with their dying grabs for attention.
Seriously, Tsunku needed to be kicked in the ass all the way to the nearest Marketing 101 class for that.
If people are growing more and more uninterested in your group just give up every grandiose bullshit you are planning and stick to the meat and potatoes, you don't want to glut the market with unpopular spinoffs at a faster until you run out of steam.
Good thing only H!P fell victim to its own strategy and AKB48 and some lesser acts managed to rise from this mess, but it doesn't change that Tsunku's actions irreparably ruined the genre's image and closed the door to many other groups.
Fans may trick themselves into believing that their group is still relevant by artificially inflating sales, but you can go only so far before low viewer ratings of their show and concert halls half-empty pop your bubble.

>> No.3465286 [DELETED]

>>3465284

Also, Japanese conception of MM ≠ 2ch obsessed shut-ins (and by proxy Western) conception. Indeed, it's rather funny to see how their fans' reaction when they feel threatened by other groups is trying to shoot them down by calling them appealing only to creepy old men / rabid fangirls. Funny because that's exactly the definition that Japan gives to Morning Musume.
But you can't blame them, can you? After all what else can they think of a group that founds its business on low-selling singles and gravure photobooks? Unless they try really fucking hard to find them somewhere else, that's just the two media they see they have a somewhat lasting presence in.
On top of that, through the years they have also long become a subject of social humor there. I can name at least two popular shows featuring a socially-awkward buffoon obsessed with Buono! or Morning Musume as their token laughing stock.

Yeah, we all know that H!P fanboys don't want to hear a word against their idol group or else they would be waken up from their fairy tale world. Thank you for lending even more credence to my argument.
How come I don't find weird at all that Western fans are the most opinionated and deluded of all? Oh yeah, because you must be that far removed from the market of origin to stay so ignorant of what's the actual social standing of the target of their obsession as well as who are the actual major players on the scene.
In retrospect, they are doing a wise move to bring half of the business overseas. Only American weeaboos are so much behind the times (say, 5 years back) to belive MM is still something Japanese go head over heels for, and if they play their cards right there's a chance they'll buy their bullshit wholesale.
Their appearance at AX had "scraping the bottom of the barrel" written all over it, after all.

>Only American weeaboos are so much behind the times
Absolutely hilarious, considering all the American bands I have seen that carry Japanese audiences well decades after they have long faded in America. Its even funnier when you attempt to play the Racial Superiority card when it comes with idol industry!

The real issue at hand is the mobilization and refueling of Musume. If it was such a pathetic move then why are we seeing troll shockwaves reach our shores even here. What these idol trolls want is a calculated Japanese industry in which they can just cut ties and scoff at all their stars from just 5 years ago. This happens across the entire music industry.
And to assume that we here are aligned with robotic viewpoint of the majority of the Japanese you'd have to fucking braindead. Japanese faggots go head over heels for faggot boy bands and boys that look like girls.
>Their appearance at AX had "scraping the bottom of the barrel" written all over it
You call it bottom of barrel but you don't even realize that half to all of the shit that cycles through the Japanese music industry today won't even see the light of day internationally.
People can tell what they like and you can't dictate how they think or feel about Musume. And you certainly can't apply the groupthink used in Japan.

Speaking of console faggotry, just watched the FFXIII trailer,
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfl36IiYkJo

wow the Maki character reminds me of her so much, also the CG's looking so ridiculous, mouth movements and facial expressions so good. Releasing 8 days before Christmas supposedly, but we know things go with Squareenix.

There is a chance that they don't actually use English voices and just use subtitles.
I would hurt the games appeal to casual fags but it certainly would make more sense in terms of a timely release and ease of porting, not to mention it would suffer the GodZilla dubbed movie effect.

comon get realistic, square has already dubbed most of the trailers into english. They are still under the impression that all americans hate japanese culture and they have to "americanize" absolutely everything they sell in america for it to sell.

I wouldn't be surprised if they leave the japanese voice track out too. In an interview when the question was asked if there will be the jp voice track in the NA version, they replied that they didn't think that anyone would want it.

Wow, that's like xii, with x drama, with xii graphics and themes on steroids.
Also, wasn't there a yahoo article or some other Japanese news thing that said that Mari looked somewhat like that chick? Lucy is it? Enix is losing originality in names now, Sazz, Lightning, Hoff, Vanilla (from what I can make out from the dialogue and text), looking forward to it though.

Well, I'm off to bed, goodnight /jp/, sweet dreams.

I can very well call the pathetic show they put up at AX like that because that's exactly what it was, by virtue of when and on the wake of what events they decided to hastily plan it.
If you think otherwise, then please riddle me this: what would be a more sensible choice for a group that wants to impress its ignorant overseas fans by billing itself "latest sensation" or "everybody's favorite" (and as a side note, just the thought that as of 2009 they still persist in keeping up this pretense seriously makes me laugh)?
Holding a concert overseas when their supremacy in Japan had been cemented and the only concern left is to raise awareness abroad? Or when the Japanese fanbase has thinned to a few militant zealots, every other group on the domestic market is taking turns to shit on you and you have no other choice but to reach out to the part of fanbase you always snubbed out of desperation?
That's what I'm calling "scraping the bottom of the barrell".
Most foreign fans have been completely neglected up until now because they never represented an appreciable source of income, but when money is so tight they had no choice but to branch out (and I'm not just talking about America here, either!). But, hey, Tsunku's hair dye doesn't pay for itself.

Oh, another thing I love about Morning Musume is that they are basically slaves of the corporation they gave their bodies and souls to.
But you know what's the real icing on this cake made out of manure? That they don't even have any freedom of choosing their own hairstyle. Even the decision of settling on a certain one must first be reviewed and approved by the fat cats tending to them, when it isn't dictated straight from the top. I've got a few of them, they're actually decently useful, but they're still below par. A smaller towel that's twice as thick is better, but if you like working out/concerting with genuine H!P shit, this is for you.
Also note that the towels are very soft, not smooth like silk, just very soft.
The length of the micro fiber towels are also odd, it's mostly ment to go around you neck, with both sides being long and equal. It can be used as a banner as well, but it's pretty generic, best make your own banner than the towels.
