The point is there is a large gap between the two. People will sooner click on fetish shit than look for something drawn for the hell of it. I've come across one artist in the past that did consistently well, and they were doing daily drawings as a challenge. I doubt this is the same case for everyone. If the first page is nothing but porn for a week, it isn't worth looking into.

I hate the twitter game. Sure advertising was always a thing, but it has somehow gotten so much worse in recent years. Artists just blindly jump between gacha games art now, Kancolle into FGO, FGO into Azur Lane, Azur Lane into Genshin Impact, or just churn out stale Pokemon art that will always be popular. The variety is dead, I even saw some artists offering discounts to commissions as long as you request something from games and series that are popular, so they can kill two birds with one stone. If you like something remotely niche you are more fucked than ever, ironically when at the same time there is also more artists than ever - they just all draw the same exact thing for likes and retweets.
