I used to come here to enjoy softs with others who enjoy softs, and as of late it's been half that and the other half is like the rest of 4chan. It used to be that I could come here to look at softs if I wasn't at home looking at my own softs, and almost always that little visit would brighten my day. Now when I come here there's a good chance that someone is either trying to start something by posting things that are antithetical to the whole point of these threads, or just being shitty in general. Yes I know times have changed and I have nostalgia goggles, but I mean like for fucks sake, the first three pics in this thread aren't even fumo related, and the subject of actual discussion is partially drowned out by the back and forth that's been going on for the past few threads. It's not a huge effort to whip out your phone or even camera and snap a picture of a fumo, or even repost a good pic someone took earlier, but I'm beginning to fear that it's not even an option to begin with for the people I'm referring to. Before someone tries to rebut that statement, of course it shouldn't be only fumo pics, but the current state of these threads is just ridiculous. The whole point of these threads is to discuss fumos, and more importantly, post fumos, not some hollow overarching melodrama that vaguely encompasses the issues with modern internet communities or /jp/. I'm not complaining that /fumo/ is dead and can't go back to it's "former glory", it's just going through a really shitty phase. There's still (hopefully) a majority here that doesn't give a crap and keeps on posting soft in a good way, but the amount of trolls and arguments is something you can't not notice. /fumo/ is still a lot comfier than say, most of /jp/, but it's really starting to show that there's a good chunk of bad/new blood here. I am not implying that newcomers are a bad thing, I just hope that they'd calm down a bit and lurk more. And I do hope that the obvious attempts at baiting would go away, but that's asking a lot since the only rational thing to really do is ignore them.
The survey from a while back really does show that some of the older posters, some of which I could even recognize, have either moved on or are lurking. I really hope that the ones that moved on don't have to witness the direction this general is going towards, because it's worrying and unsoft.

Could you please post your recipe? I've brewed mead a couple times, but it was high ABV, like 20%. From looking it up, vappu mead looks like it's low ABV.

Sure!
You'll need
- 8l water
- 500g brown sugar
- ~450g sugar
- 3 lemons
- fresh yeast (or dry if you have to)
- raisins
- A container to hold everything and some empty bottles

1. Wash the lemons and peel the skin off them. Make the peels as big as possible without cutting into the core. Don't throw the peels away. Juice what's left of the lemons.
2. Boil 4 litres of water. Pour all of both sugars and lemon peels into a big container, pour the boiling water carefully in and mix it so that the sugar melts away. It might be a good idea to put something protective under your container!
3. Add the lemon juice and 4 litres of lukewarm water
4. Wait so that the mixture matches your body temperature(37C). This can take a few hours. If it's too hot the yeast dies, too cold and it doesn't activate. Dry yeast works best at slighly above that (42C). Cooking thermometer makes this easy but it's not necessary.
5. Add a tiny piece of yeast, a ball the size of your fingertip. Dry yeast should be about a third of that. Hold the yeast in the mixture and rub it between your fingers to mix it in easily.
6. Cover the container and let it sleep for the night. Put the cover on lightly!

7. The next day bottle your mead. A funnel is recommended! For each bottle, after you've filled it pour 1-2 teaspoons of sugar and some (3-6) raisins in it. When you bottle scoop the mead from the top of the container and try not to stir the mixture. Leave the lemon peels and other residue in the container and get rid of them.
8. Let your bottles sleep the night. Again, put the caps on the bottles just lightly on, they can blow off otherwise!

9. The next day put the bottles in the fridge (go easy with the caps until the next step).
10. When the raisins have risen to the top of the bottles (usually a couple of days) it's good to drink, although it does get even better after a few days more. Drink it away and give it to friends, don't let it sit for more than two weeks!

Remember to place everything so that no-one trips on them.

I've never read let alone wrote cooking instructions in english, I hope it's readable. I wish I could just show it to you, it would be so much easier!

Try Big in Japan, as far as I know they don't need to see your driver's licence. I've used them numerous times and they've been good. They turn packages around quickly and charge a flat ¥500 for forwarding on top of whatever shipping option you choose.
