Saving others whilst not saving yourself is hypocritical because saving others at any cost is operating on a pretext that people matter
However, if you’re saving people at the cost of yourself you’re more or less saying you dont matter
But you’re still a person, so you do matter and you’re just choosing to not care about your own well being while telling others to care about theirs
Ergo, its hypocritical

I don't know but the hypocrisy thing people always bring up is 偽善: Which does mean hypocrisy but also a lot of other things vaguely related to it, thanks to the kanji being so generic. Weblio for example defines it as
"To make oneself appear as a good person, opposite of 偽悪 (to intentionally appear evil)"
Shirou isn't committing good deeds to commit good deeds, he's going to satisfy his own ally of justice obsession. Which is why Archer brings it up.

Nah, the maids are in for sure. I'm sure they'll implement the Melty story and cast in a later installation. With Wallachia they can make all of the silly stories that they want. I think French Bread would want to get crazy in later installments so this first game looks like it'll establish the cast more and give us more scenes with the Tsuki cast. From the sound of it from the interview it looks to be quite a bit of writing that was left on the cutting room floor from the remake so I'm excited for that.

I thought FR-TL meant translation from French, and JP-TLC meant proofreading in Japanese. This is what their website is saying
>Our approach first involves a rough draft translated from Moon-Trad’s French script into English. That rough draft is then rigorously TLC’d by the proofreaders and editors to ensure that as much of the original JP intention (in both meaning and tone/prose) is conveyed, dampening the impact of issues inherent to direct double translation
If JP-TLC means editing and proofreading, then it shouldn't be such a herculean task. Just get people who know Japanese and English, and let them compare both versions side by side, they don't even need translation skills, simple common sense is enough.

I'm not saying it's easy, I'm saying it's not a year of work. The actual hard part is done, editorial work is a simple matter of going through the already finished manuscript and checking it for spelling errors and clunky writing. If I was fortunate enough to know Japanese, sure, I would've helped them out. But even as things stand, they should have enough people to finish it up in reasonable time, if they're not procrastinating of course.
Hell, I'd say finish up chapter 6 (it's still at 57% there), and release the whole thing as a beta, let anyone willing do the bloody spellchecking for you on github. I'm sure most people wouldn't mind.

It's a matter of discipline. Editing is not difficult per se, it's just really fucking tedious. You have to sit your ass down and work hard, reading and re-reading a book worth of text, weeding out shit 90% of people wouldn't even notice (and you only notice it because you have a degree in linguistics for some godforsaken reason). In FSN, bad ends became a much larger part of the experience, with Taiga Dojo stamps and whatnot, because Ciel-sensei's lessons were a big success, so Nasu wanted to expand upon that concept. So bad ends in Tsukihime can seem simpler and tamer in comparison.

Why is Tsukihime manga so fast paced? Shiki did a complete 180 in like 10 chapters and became this super chad assasian out of no where that can do back flips. Why did the one guy with all the shikigami/familiars arc end so fast? He died like 2 chapters after his appearance. I get he wasn't the main villain but there was no build up to his death it just happend. I get you, and for me it's because they downplayed some things that made the end of HF special. One of the biggest sins in my eyes is that the effects releasing Archer's arm has on Shirou were toned down, inconsistent and glossed over. I recall correctly, in the VN his mind and body is starting to fall apart before they enter the cave, and it lends a sense of urgency, emphasizes the strength of his conviction, and adds a sense of sadness towards to inevitability of the end when he leaves the house for the last time. Yet in the movie his loss of mental ability just kind of comes out of nowhere near the end when he hands Sakura to Rider to Sakura, disappears just as quickly when Kirei shows up, and then suddenly he's worse again when Illya appears.
>DBZ fight between Rider and Saber, for one. It's been twelve years since I read F/SN, but even I know they shouldn't be causing that much damage without noble phantasm use.
I enjoy it, but I do get a little frustrated when I think about how much focus it got compared to Shirou vs Kirei. I thoroughly enjoyed Sakura vs Rin though. NLBW was okay; build up was good; actual execution of the encounter was unfulfilling, the 1080 no-scope slash was retarded.

I’d recommend starting with the movies even if some details aren’t in the movies. The music, tone, and atmosphere are so good that they made me fall in love with the series. The sloppy writing and exposition can hinder the movies but the tone of the urban fantasy and the brutal tone of the movies just made me so fascinated. The first movie with Shiki walking around the city that looks deserted is one of my favorite sequences in anime.

It mainly comes from Touko giving long exposition talks and being vague about things. Nasu likes to be confusing and obtuse with his wordy writing and doesn’t just come out and say what is going on until the end with the charcter recaping the long explanation with a sentence or two.

If Type Moon was bigger and let FGO be run by a small group that didn't treat the lore seriously, FGO could just be a thing that didn't matter that much to the rest of Fate so Nasu could work on other things. Basically, it was watered down and rewritten at times. To name a few things:
>the incident that prompted the investigation at Reien was two students attempting to stab each other upon receiving letters with memories of secrets they had forgotten
>these letters made everyone wary of one another
>Kurogiri is Ouji's brother, she found out about it through some memories she snatched from him
>Ouji used the fairies as a way to payback the bullying Kaori received and turning their backs to Kaori with her problems
>Kaori got pregnant while at Reien and kept it as secret until she had enough
>there was an fire incident in the old school building, Kaori was found there but it's presumed she died before the fire spread
>it's presumed Kaori was pregnant and died of overdose
>remember how Reien is an all-girls academy? well, Hayama entering the school stirred up interest not so much in him but in the potential freedom he could share with them (the outside world, Reien is pretty strict)
>Hayama didn't die of overdose or anything like that, he was killed by fairies
>turns out Hayama was taking Reien girls (out of their own will) out to the streets to do some lewd shit to the point it almost became a prostitution ring
>since most of them came from wealthy families, they fetched a huge sum
>even the yakuza had connections with it
>Kurogiri taught Ouji magecraft? iirc and he was the one actually bringing memories from oblivion
>Kurogiri knows Araya
>they cut the whole conversation between Kurogiri and Shiki

Nasu decided to change it for the movie so that it's audio only and can be blocked by headphones because he wanted things to be simpler.
You know how KnK 6 has a focus on Azaka and her incest lust? In the novels the Ouji chick hanging out with Kurogiri believes he is her actual brother and it could be true.
You know how in the movie Kurogiri just vanishes? In the novel he dies getting stabbed by a student in school a few days after everything is over. Heavily implied Ouji did it.

We get the whole Reality Marble thing explored later, it wasn't necessary so early into the story. That's the problem with the prologue, it's pretty damn unnecessary. Not pointless, but mostly a waste of time that starts the novel off on the wrong foot.
It's not a huge deal either, just a gripe I remembered when I was re-reading it recently.

Nasu: When we first had a meeting about the screenplay, I mentioned, “You don’t need to fight at the park (just like in the original game), so you can choose a different situation.” The original game had limitations on the number of 2D backgrounds we could use, so in battles, we only had the park or a hilly road. (laughs) But in animation, there was no need to conform to those limitations. The anime staff all held high regards for the original game, so they got picky about situations that are depicted in the original game. But I was afraid that “the decisions reluctantly made on the original game due to production limitations might be inherited to the animated version.” But considering our history together of all the titles we’ve worked on, I had the confidence that ufotable had the manpower and the reliability that they would do something about it. So I told them, “It’s fine if it’s not perfectly conformed to the original story.” By saying so, the staff had the joy of presenting the best possible suggestions without fear.

It's fine to use different backgrounds instead of hills and parks, that's great even. Imagine how creative you can get with the choreography in a densely packed scene, that was Jackie Chan's bread and butter. But when Alter seemingly annihilated most of the Einzbern estate in her fight with Berserker by shooting literal sword nukes everywhere, that looked like something straight out of a Zucker, Abrahams and Zucker spoof comedy. That's not what combat in Fate should be about.

Yes, because I fucking said so. FSN, being a novel, couldn't just rely on cheap explosions to carry the fights, and that's what made them interesting.

Is Aoko's official voice the Misato voice that she had in Carnival Phantasm?
That voice makes me less attracted to her because it reminds me of Misato.

She really doesn't have one, she had a different VA in the anime that didn't happen to Melty/CP which is of course Kotono.
As we've seen with the remake, this can change.
The lack of voices in Mahoyo reinforces this.

Considering Saber Alter has limitless mana backing her up and Servants are pretty damn strong this isn’t that surprising. Servants are meant to be superhuman after all. So this level of destruction isn’t that crazy. Also the forest is bound by a large boundary field so no one would find out about since Illya should hide everything that is happening there from the outside world.

Sure, it's not my favorite route but it'd be nice to see something end with Illya being alive (at least for a little while). Alternatively an anime original Illya route would calm my frustrations.

KnK has a tendency to be flashy and bad camerawork so I wouldn’t call them the best at it. Fate/Zero had some good fight choreography with Lancer vs Saber at the docks being a fight that didn’t go crazy DBZ and was more of a lance vs sword fight.
