Just finished this. It was not bad I guess, basically Tsukihime with lesbians. Definitely a high budget game. Main character was refreshing to play as since she was a girl but not useless AND not a slut.

Main problems were that the interface and encyclopedia weren't translated, and that there were A LOT of Japanese terms/names which can't be translated, it was a bit overwhelming to try to keep track of all of them at first.

The yuri was a bit lacking, in terms of actual kissing and confessions of love. There are plenty of innuendo and mana transfer if you're into that sort of thing. Some of the good endings left more to be desired but hey, there's the final route which resolves everything.

Too many demons/events clumped together for hardly good reasons.
It's as if teh game tries to hammer you ' You get impressed/awed now', like those TV shows where they hold signs for reactions.
Basic premise is not bad, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired.
Not a complete waste of time, just...kinda disappointing.

That's the PS2 version. It was the PC version that was translated.

Finished the game. It's like Ever17 with better everything: art, music, directing, mystery, some occult stuff; BUT without the final route ending. All the endings including the grand route are weak, deus ex machina, or cliched as hell.

Well, at least this game gave me the same feeling of satisfaction as Ever17 did, with almost everything getting resolved at the end. I think this is what's missing in most plot focused VNs, having individual routes with different but related storylines, yet not having a route to tie up everything together, like FSN and Tsukihime. Even though most of the endings were weak in Aoi Shiro, having a grand route does make up for that. Hope to see more VNs in the future with a unified route.

Oh and is it just me or do all the characters become weak when they are on your side? Fighting Kaya or Kohaku lead to hundreds of dead ends, but when they are your allies they keep losing, wtf man.

Ever17 have mediocre routes, but at least the final ending redeem it in form of brickshitting. However Aoishiro is not; great buildup but almost all of those 56 endings fail to deliver any brickshit, bawfest etc because of rushed writing.

I still don't regret playing though. Feels good to check it out myself instead of listening to this egs rating bitchfight.

No, if you download the torrented one from hongfire then all you have to do is download the newest patch and you are good to go. No need to install or extract with the torrent. Took me a bit less than a day but it was worth it.
