It's really hard to tell where the Nasuverse is on the Cynicism vs Idealism Scale sometimes.

On one hand we have things like Wallachia's calculations of the future and Kotomine's backstory.

Doesn't contradict Nanaya's existence. Nanaya still wants to kill Tohno. It's just that killing Kouma is so much more delicious, and Nanaya believes Kouma (the embodiment of death of that world) is killing both of them.

Nanaya doesn't care who dies in the beginning, as long as someone named Shiki survives the destruction of the world.

I guess you overlooked those parts where it says Shirou's future is grimdark and futile unless he's with Rin, and Shiki for all of his laid-back happiness lifestyle zen is gonna die early and likely violently.

>> No.3421852

You miss Nasu's whole point regarding what matters to people. Even if Shirou's future would be hopeless, he'd still fight on, and after seeing Archer, he vows to make it worth it no matter the outcome. He'd never end up regretting it. Shiki knows he's going to die young, as he's already died once, so he vows to make the most of every day and enjoy his precious moments with the ones he loves.

It doesn't matter what the outcome is as to whether you're happy in life. It's how you get there, stupid, and what those moments meant to you. There is no magic day in the future where it all turns out right. It's every day, for better or worse, where you make it worth living and reaffirm your reason for living.

Akiha & Kohaku - Only even good endings except that Roa's still alive in both, on to another host--bad end for Arc. Sidestories discounted, bad end for Akiha "she waited for you, Shiki" Tohno, as well. And even then, Eclipse. Those are good only because Shiki is zen about his own fate.
