>Akiha's True ending has Shiki spending literal months in the mansion with Kohaku and Hisui while Akiha plays hard to get in the academy's dorms like a little girl
Imagine how much bonding happened then. Videogame tournaments, comfy evenings together, teaching Hisui to cook, tending to flowers with Kohaku...
Maybe one day, Shiki will get a nasty cold, and they will be tending to him near his bed all night...
Maybe the only way to save him will be to exchange fluids with both sisters...

Complaining about Takeuchi sameface has always been pointless since you're you're looking at an idealized face, just like with any other anime design. It's like a platonic object.

No, it's pretty much the same. Eye shape was the same, and so was facial structure. Takeuchi simply changed what eyes he uses for characters, and his haircuts became a bit less cartoony.
I'm not saying that he's the great master of art or something, but he's not doing something unheard of. Professional artists don't have time to bullshit around with fancy art techniques, they have work to do. Takeuchi had to draw an entire VN worth of unique images (seeing how TsukiR seems to be done in a fashion similar to Mahoyo), so quality and consistency become more important. Arc is still Arc, you will not mistake her for anyone else when reading TsukiR, and she also looks very pretty, so what else do we really need?

Takeuchi's TsukiR art looks fine, they don't look all samey in the new pics.
But most of the shit he's done for F/GO is unforgivable. You can tell he doesn't give a shit about it, both as an artist and as the art team leader.

The problem is that good artists mask the sameface by changing the angle and poses so that the face isn't an literal exact 1:1, but Takeuchi doesn't do that, he uses exactly the same angle and pose for multiple characters.

Takeuchi is getting paid to make art for a VN. If thousands of other artists who are likely getting paid much less can make non-sameface sprites for VNs that are significantly longer than the remake then Takeuchi can too, but he won't because he's a lazy faggot.

Arc doesn't look like Arc anymore. She doesn't have her vents, her granny skirt, or her lashes. She looks like a red eyed Saber with a generic outfit.

And sure, she's still pretty, but almost every eastern 2D is at least superficially pretty. It's difficult to find ugliness. Old Arc was more than pretty, but unique as well. I cannot say anything looks unique about nuArc.

It isn't even just faces anymore, but hair and bodies as well. >If thousands of other artists who are likely getting paid much less can make non-sameface sprites for VNs that are significantly longer than the remake then Takeuchi can too
But can they though? First of all, 90% of VN art is really fucking subpar, and if you think otherwise, you should take a look beyond what Nitro+ translates into English. Even nowadays, most VNs have a pretty low number of sprites for characters, they all look pretty samey, and CGs are as rare as they were in the days of the original Tsukihime. Compared to that TsukiR already looks like a high-budget masterpiece.

It isn't fun to act jaded, nor am I doing so. I am merely suggesting that I have no reason to be hyped. Every change they have made makes me suspicious of its quality. The new interview made me more nervous, not reassured. Without a doubt, Tsukihime's remake will be a success because everything TM has done turns into success. They are a mainstream corporation that churns out media on the regular and are on the same level as Gundam, Dragon Ball, Naruto, etc. The Tsukihime I loved was a flawed product that came from a small place in a conflicted individual's heart. It had a humble, tiny story that nonetheless resonated with me in spite of the terrible translation, visuals, and music.

Imagine this. Your favorite Death Metal artist was an indie band at one point who made a low production but inspired album that brought your attention to his skills. He went on to transition to the Pop Music, though, and signed into a major label, at one point, he promised to remaster his original album with better technology now that he had the financial means to do so. That remaster turned into a recomposition over time, and now. 13 years later, he says the album is about half way done -- but it's ok, because the songs that he recomposed are actually 5 times as long now. Also instead of releasing it on CD where everyone can easily access it, he is releasing it on SACD in exclusively 5.1 multichannel. No stereo mix. He says it is the only way to experience it.

Meanwhile you are scratching your head because you were able to get an amazing experience, 20 years ago, from a low budget product without the extra bells and whistles. Somewhere inside yourself you wonder if someone is compensating for something.

In the end the actual contents of the story are pretty small, no one would attribute grandiosity to Tsukihime. Meanwhile Mahoyo is far shorter than Tsuki but feels a lot more grand.

For manga, as far as cover, promotional, and color pages, the only comparable i.e. colored thing, is concerned, that will also vary from artist to artist. Obviously it's more probable in the weekly magazines, but assistants usually won't be be relied upon for that sort of thing. As for the contents, the process is completely different, so comparing it is silly. The lead artist will still be fully responsible for drafting and marking where beta and tones go, and applying them is just busywork that takes a steady hand. Backgrounds are another story that are done in plenty of different ways.

Meanwhile, in the sphere of video games alone Yoshitaka Amano, Akihiko Yoshida, Tetsuya Nomura, Kimihiko Fujisaka, Yoji Shinkawa, Hideo Minaba, Atlus's own Shigenori Soejima, and everyone else working at Type-Moon are just a few big names who do everything themselves. This isn't getting into general artists like literally everyone contracted to work on FGO. The vast majority of artists are freelancers who do everything themselves to preserve their distinct style. So unless you're strictly talking about manga and VN where the priority is mass-production, doing every single step of the art yourself is definitely not something that is usually only done with a smaller name or just starting out.

You have choices that affect the story, and clicking, while, basic, is still gameplay. Pong used less buttons than an average VN, but it's a videogame, and if you want to argue about lose/win conditions in kinetic VNs - Animal Crossing games don't have those either.

Story isn't gameplay, but reading, progressing, and choosing is gameplay, in essence no different from the earliest text-based adventure games. I'm not sure why you would argue against that when even Japanese Wikipedia calls VNs adventure games, it's not exactly a controversial take. In fact, something like Kagetsu Tohya makes games like The Walking Dead look like the most boring and shallow linear experience you can find.

Original Tsuki has around 13000 unique words, more than half of which only appear 1-3 times in the entire VN. So, you'd need to be very advanced (higher than N1) or use the dictionary a lot since texthooking probably won't be possible. I've accepted that the movies weren't going to match the VN in all aspects no matter how hard they tried. It did get the core of Heaven's Feel right though, despite needing moar Illya.

There are ways to show speed without shit flying all over the screen. A good rule of thumb is - both opponents should always be visible when they're making contact, and full-body shots are absolutely necessary when they're engaged in combat. Quick cuts should be avoided (tracking shots are far, far more impressive and fun to watch), and the geometry of the arena should always be easy to understand, so you don't get shit like pic related. Where were they? Where are they flying? Where did they land? Where are they going next? What the fuck is going on, I thought this was a fucking cave, not the Geofront.

The two seconds in the Vita OP was able to portray it perfectly clearly. It went so far in the opposite directions that Saber is using Excalibur like it's nothing for a dumb transition and thus still got it wrong. You can point out details going through something moving 100 kmh and that won't suddenly make it less incoherent. You can be spun around on your head and see the ground and you will still be disoriented. The number of secondaries who misunderstood the ending alone is evidence that doesn't work.

For one thing the greater grail is in an absolutely huge cave, so what if she knocks off a whole row of stalactites and stalagmites. Excaliblasts are incredibly powerful as we already know. After seeing its power in HF2, not looking like it could destroy a whole mountain would be inaccurate.

The Excaliblasts launched huge rocks into the air, I don't know why you two are confused on where they came from. If anything the flying rocks respect combat space. I couldn't disagree with you harder.

>>34225617
I admit that pic related could be hard to see, but when I watched the movie I could clearly tell that Medusa was kicked into a rock, slid down, and Saber followed in pursuit. The problem with your criticism is that they don't stay in an arena in the first place, Medusa is attacking from above and all sides. So what does Saber Alter do? She launches rock up into the air and chases her on those rocks, at which point the whole cave is the 'arena', and it becomes much harder to clearly show where everything is. It could definitely be better if we see a clear picture of where everything is in relation to this rock battlefield they created, I agree. We do get some placing shots showing that the initial arena is down below where Shirou is looking down on the sunken down area, but I am too lazy to take screenshots right now. My point is that there really wasn't that much confusion on my end as to where the fighters were, and I don't think that the your rules of thumb would necessarily make a scene better, even if it does become easier to see some movements (which are mostly clear, at least for me).

>>34225668
>The two seconds in the Vita OP was able to portray it perfectly clearly
No, the Vita OP did not portray it clearly, don't you guys often complain about too much flashy light effects in Ufotable's work? This is literally the same idea as the movie but done worse due to budget so they used light beams. This has got to be nostalgia talking. I can't even tell what Medusa is doing later in the OP with the magic seal.

>You can point out details going through something moving 100 kmh
They had plenty of slowed down closeup shots in the did in the fight scene in the movie so I don't see your point

>You can be spun around on your head and see the ground and you will still be disoriented

>it has to be bad because HF2 was bad
The first problem is that it's already taking place in an uncharacteristic cavern, which was also originally just a passage to the main chamber. Excalibur explodes and it cuts to a bunch of rubble. You can infer where it came from, but it's definitely not clear.

There's two cuts where the ground is clearly beneath them (despite it having just been annihilated), but for the rest of the fight, the background is is filled with more dust and rubble or indiscernible from speed blur and dof. During this entire time both of them and the pov are bouncing in every possible direction. She gets kicked downward relative to the pov, but when they're on something rotating(?) at an ambiguous speed, where is that in real space, and when it cuts, where is the new down?

All there is to work with are the ambiguous points A (Rider) and B (Saber). We can see when they hit the ground (which is pretty ironically when they decide to go back to the story, like when Shirou keeps taking off his jacket), but while trying to make sense of these two points, there's no way you distinguished when they started being affected by gravity and if they were going up, down, or sideways, and there's definitely no way you were thinking all of this while watching it. Shirou is completely irrelevant to the fight until the last moment, but when you start wondering where he, the entrance, and the exit are, and how all of these things are completely unaffected, it gets so much worse.

They contrived such a chaotic space specifically so the animators could do whatever they want without having to actually consider coherence. Without getting too into the style itself, episode 131 of DBS shows the right way to do it and with double the characters to follow to boot.

TL;DR it's basically nonsense designed to induce sensory overload to compensate for the lack of any cognitive stimulation like you would see in the VN or even episode 131 of DBS, which can get much more powerful, lasting reactions.

>3rd response
Afaik we're only talking about the second half where things get out of control. In the OP, they turned her into a ball of light because it was easier to do. It's easy to identify what is what. The first half has plenty of cringey shit to make fun of not to mention Excaliblast abuse, but I think that's off-topic. What did you think of the ending's clarity?

Most of the time they are standing on ground/falling rock parallel to the ground. Was I thinking about it when watching it? No, since it felt natural to me so I was not concerned with it. By the way the youtube link to the fight in this thread has many unnecessary cuts so that it can avoid copyright. So there are additional scenes where you see Shirou looking at the fight behind Rider's back, and rider sliding up to Shirou's level at the end to release her NP, contributing further to the sense of space.

>TL;DR it's basically nonsense designed to induce sensory overload to compensate for the lack of any cognitive stimulation
Hard disagree, this scene really activated my almonds, it was a very engaging scene. I loved that mystic eye peek that Rider kept hitting Saber with.

>episode 131 of DBS shows the right way to do it
I watched it, better animation than I was led to believe. Anyway the orientation works well here mainly because they have the tower as a landmark and a sky for orientation. Can't really have that in a cave. It's fair that they could have added some more static landmarks. Though the main focus is on the battle between the two so I don't mind if they take some liberties with the space. Although I actually think they did a good job with the orientation/space representation anyway

Also man come on blue lights bouncing around in the Vita OP doesn't make anything more clear than the many, many close up acrobatic shots of Rider in this fight. Rider was the most awesome she's ever been, I'm so happy they did her justice.

>What did you think of the ending's clarity?
What end are you talking about, Touko walking away from shop passing by Sakura and Rin in the hallway?
I thought her not interacting with them at all as she passes by was a clear way to say that she's just leaving behind some unwanted doll but I can see how some people would misinterpret that.

Hope I didn't reply too late, but I probably did

>Nasu: Yes. Even so, many fans were celebrating the 20th anniversary of the doujin Tsukihime's release online. An excessively long time after TsukiR's announcement, the fans were still persevering waiting. We need to do something to repay these feelings. This combined with our wish to show a piece of the new Tsukihime we'll be releasing the next year inspired us to reveal the trailer at that time, on the last moment of the 20th year.

Let's hope he feels this way about Mahoyo and Girls Works.

I have the BD rip. Shirou adds nothing but questions. The rubble is completely stagnant, and after the first few cuts of nothing happening, there's no other tells you'd pick up on unless you're specifically looking at the background instead of the focal point for some reason. Do you know what speed terminal velocity is? This sequence goes on for a minute and a half. I was looking through it cut by cut and it's all completely fucking incomprehensible why anything is happening. Some of it needs to be viewed frame by frame just to clarify their movements. Furthermore, it's an even bigger clown show than I thought. I'll take the no cognitive stimulation back because there's a lot of cognition this requires, in a very different way. I'll post webms in the next thread.

A bunch of people, beyond having no idea who Touko is, were confused where the hell Shirou came from and thought he was a ghost or hallucination.

No one is going to pick up on that if they don't already how it works.

Really take your time
