I can only talk about short breaks, because Japanese is my life hobby. 99 % of the time it's literally related to personal or work related stuff that requires all my free time.

I simply love the Japanese language. It's not like those hard dekinais who want to be "fluent in 6 months" or "have a Japanese waifu". I'm in it for the language itself and everything else like being fluent and having a Japanese waifu is just a great happenstance which doesn't influence my Japanese learning.

For example I learnt even books which no normal Japanese learner could even understand because they are the newest and highest scientific analysis of the Japanese language. It's just amazing to learn Japanese. Not as a language, but as a hobby where you can go so deep that it is more science than anything else.

I'm learning japanese and every 'easy' japanese vn looks mighty boring (i can understand what's going easy but then i just get bored, managed to read through hanahira somehow.
