What do you guys think about Hisui's route? It's probably my personal favourite story from Nasu but I've seen plenty of criticism thrown towards it, especially due to Shiki being catatonic for a fair portion of the route.

Because translating is pure fucking aids and the english internet doesn't suck your cock nearly enough for it to ever be worth it. It took crunchy like 3 weeks to kill anime fansubbing forever for example, and their first releases were arguably really bad. English communities just want to consume. Go the scanlation thread on /a/ and you'll probably find at least 10 translators bitching every thread that their series has XXXX views on mangadex and only Y amount of comments. When you don't get paid the only thing give a shit about is attention and discussion. Ciel was always a failure of a character, as harsh as that sounds. Always at the very bottom among the main heroines (even though Hisui and Kohaku were supposed to be sub-heroines, they still kicked her ass), she has her fans, but most people never cared that much since she was sandwiched between Arcueid and Akiha, and her route also had a long list of issues. People could argue which route in Tsukihime was the best, but no one ever argues which one was the worst.
But she's still the second main heroine. So obviously, when the time came to remake her, Takeuchi went back to the drawing board and scrapped her entire old design. I personally disagree with his approach (I really like Ciel's old spritework), but I can't really argue with it either.

Arc's route is good. The true end is especially tear jerking. Since that's the route everyone plays first, it leaves a goos impression on most people. The unique parts of Ciel's route are goos (Roa posessing Shiki is amazing), but it retreads a ton of ground Arc's route already covers. I really hope the remake fixes up Ciel's shortcomings. That was always one of the biggest selling points to me.

In my opinion, Shiki should offer Arcueid to live in the Tohno mansion. She's his gf and a princess of True Ancestors, she deserves to live in a place more impressive than a fucking single room apartment in bumfuck nowhere, in complete solitude. Smoothing things out with Akiha wouldn't be easy of course, but you just have to be straightforward - Arcueid is Shiki's lover, she's part of the family now, and Akiha should respect her brother's wishes at least that much or it would be impossible for him to live in the mansion.
I get that in Kagetsu Tohya, putting Arc in a separate apartment served a story purpose - since that game had to take every route into account, moving anyone to the mansion would've been problematic. But beyond that, Arcueid deserves to live together and have fun with Shiki, instead of sulking and waiting for him to drop by every day like an abused wife.

Finally watched spring song for the first time. I really enjoyed it overall, but I can't stop thinking about how half-assed the adaptation Nine Lives Blade Works was.

The build up was fine, but everything after Shirou projects Berserker's rock sword was lame. What was the point of spinning 3 times before the last slash? I thought the climax of that fight was the best use of music in the movie. It feels like it's intentionally being restrained (as opposed to forgettable like some other tracks) for the back-and-forth to create build up and let the stunts breathe. Then it appropriately goes silent when Shirou appears to make a difference before achieving an effective crescendo with the noble phantasms. They couldn't have done it better for the scale that they chose to portray.

I didn't feel compelled to listen to the OST so maybe by itself it's less impressive but the actual scene managed a whole greater than the sum of its parts.
