Watching the anime first pretty much spoiled the Fate route, so I can't say I really felt much.

Well, it felt like a chore that had to be completed so I could move on to the UBW route.

Nothing outstanding or memorable at all.

It was not bad, just vastly overshadowed.

I thought it was good. I never watched the anime, which apparently helps. I thought I wasn't going to like saber at all, but she turned out to have way more personality than it seemed at first. She also has some great cute sides. I also enjoy female characters who get to be badass the whole time without suddenly having a moment of uselessness so the male lead can save the day.

One of my only complaints about FSN is that saber starts out with a big impression and then becomes significantly less important in each subsequent route, while Sakura practically drops out of every route but her own in the first few days. I felt like i missed saber, especially in HF, while Sakura could have benefited from more development in the other arcs. I suppose this would have been more impactful if I was playing FSN with zero knowledge whatsoever and suddenly one of the apparent side characters got her own senario, but instead it just felt like she got left out.

I watched the anime first, but I still baaaw'd at the end of Fate in the VN. Maybe it was because I thought the anime's ending was shit. The end of the Fate route in the VN was much better, imo.

I didn't get a lump in my throat until I had to read L'Morte for class.

Yeah, true, even though Saber dropped out of HF, we still got a cool scene like that. I was hoping Sakura would get some scene like that in the other routes, at least. I think that would have made her more likeable, since you really have to like her a lot for HF to work out.

Yeah I actually did feel depressed post Fate route, it took a few weeks till I came back to do UBW.

I really thought it had just the right amount of bittersweet to it. It's great as a true end. But it's also bullshit that there's no Saber good end, so the only one where saber lives is in rin's good end. That's sort of a wtf for me. If you're going to throw in a happy satisfying end, at least give me one where i fuck saber for the rest of my life.
Although with all the help Rin needs maintaining saber's mana i suppose i can just let my imagination run wild.
