I think one edge Satoko certainly has over Takano is her having supernatural powers and a literal god as her advisor. Takano feels a bit weak in retrospect since she couldn't counter Rika's looping or Keiichi's loop memories. Satoko on the other hand is basically unstoppable. The only way to beat her without persuading her to stop would be to kill her with the sword, but Satoko can see everything that happens in every timeline, so she can probably prevent that too.

Not quite, it has different/longer scenes. For example, Keiichi decapitates Oyashiro, not Shion. And the scene afterwards where Mion drags him down the stairs is longer, Mion talks with Ooishi which didn't happen in the anime and you can see that she's already going cuckoo. Honestly I like how the manga handles it more than the anime, the characters are more passionate and expressive and the scenes are just done better overall, like how Keiichi isn't stabbed 10 million times by Rena so his survival is a lot more believable.

I like Gou and I’m fine with Satoko’s crazy ass turn but I don’t like how Satoshi was handled. Am I missing something? I’d figure that Satoko’s abandonment issues made her cling to rika leads into her kakera looping plans but she just didn’t have a reaction to Satoshi at all. Did I misinterpret the scene as a “goodbye forever” thing instead of a “goodbye I’ll see you in another fragment” thing? Is that why she still physically reacts when her uncle puts his hand out? Another question I have is that, since it’s been years since Satoshi left, wouldn’t Satoko have hardened up a little or at least not started clinging to rika? I’m not a psychologist nor an expert on Ryukishi’s writing, but I just feel like I’m missing something. I’m really enjoying gou but I just can’t get figure out the character logic. Please excuse me for being a brainlet if this was all explained.

A hot take, but really interesting. I just realized that Tohya effectively puts Battler's personality and actions ENTiRELY within the catbox. No one alive has ever truly interacted with him. It's distinctly possible he was just as much of a shitbag as his father, or even much worse. Black Battler being canon would also explain why Tohya was so afraid of becoming Battler again. He actually DID care about Ange and that's WHY he avoided her! It's even possible that he actually killed everyone for the money, used Yasu as a pawn and then drowned her after she lost her usefulness. Or maybe SHE drowned HIM.

The manga really does seem to handle things better. I really like how this chapter was portrayed.

K1 offering his hand to Satoko differentiates his actions more from the girls'. Makes the whole scene and Satoko's act more believable, though I'm obviously biased by ep23.
