Musubi is the sequel yeah which ties up loose ends in the first game, Kiwame is alternate timeline that also expands on the plot and provides a more satisfying conclusion to it. Basically in this one the island part is quickly cut short and they all escape to work on taking down those who are after their lives for good, I don't know if you've finished the original.
It's baaasically like Kai was for Higurashi I'd say.
You also get proper routes for Hongou, Shimada and Takara's jerk brother if you're into them.

The author believes straight guys might want to play this too, I guess for the yuri or femdom potential, but it's absolutely josei-muke. It reminds me a lot of yandere situation CDs.
The dialog and events are excellent, the tentacles are all doS and obsessive but otherwise very customizable, it has this SoL feel except you're being toyed with everywhere, so if you're into MC being (ab)used by a bunch of guys/girls this is probably the game for you.
There's not much of a game part, MC is mostly passive, it's not a dating sim or anything (though they grow to see you as more than breeding material as they accompany you), your only objective is to spawn 50 tentacleboys eventually. Just enjoy the ero scenes basically.
This does mean that pseudo-pregnancy is inevitable even if you pick a male protag btw. It's more like egg-laying/parasitism though, the tentacles' biology is weird. It is also kinda weird in that the guys you're giving birth to get added to your harem.
It has these cute customizable character models like it's Ga*a Online and you can play with an isometric town map (though actually I recommend the text version in the beginning because it's easier to navigate and see what you can do.)

Presumably everyone here wants male tentacles with girl/guy protagonist so I'm going to refer to them as tentacleboys, that part is straight-forward (pick NL女主人公/男触手 or BL男主人公/男触手.)
It'll ask you the maximum number of tentacles you want in the harem, up to 30, I recommend actually picking the minimum needed to unlock all events (8) because keeping them all satisfied is pretty hard otherwise. Though you can totally play with just 3 tentacleboys too.
In the settings config, you might want to turn off egg-laying on some body parts that feel too weird for you (eg turn off urethra and breast), they can still play with them unless you turn that off too.
You can also turn off some fetish play in the next tab (eg pee and enema, penetration if you don't your male protag to ever put it in, etc) Though if they don't completely turn you off I definitely recommend keeping it all enabled.
You can leave the other options alone.

When customizing MC, you can choose their personality (dialog), the first option has them muted, but you should really try out the other personalities.
When customizing your tentacleboy NPCs, you also pick their personality, a body part they'll focus on and prefer to seed, and their sexual preferences (what sort of actions they're likely to take), the other choices are just cosmetic.

quick rundown of the NPC personalities (keep in mind, they're actually all flavors of doS):
genki and spoiled: basically the cute demanding kid type.
gentle and haraguro: sounds both younger and mature if that makes sense, gives the most yandere vibes of course.
teasing tsundere: exactly what you expect
quiet and pessimistic: I'm not sure how to describe this, basically like ichinose from hadaka shitsuji? a bit kimoi
devoted: your S butler/maid type
affable and cunning: the charao/ara ara type
prideful arrogant: you know this one. pretty tsundere too.
sociable and perverted: another haraguro variety, bit older
violent and manly: this one talks just like the faceless guys from doujinshi who turn MC into a cumdump. all tsun and no dere.
docile and stubborn: not quite like utsuro but it's the closest I can think of. kimoe.
big brother/sister: yeah.
archaic: for the ojisan lovers.
gloomy and clingy: also kimoi, yandere

the top personalities have more dialog than the bottom ones, especially the first 3 have full command and event dialog.

This one is way easier in the gameplay department (you can't lose really, and they start off all ready to bang) but harder to read because it's got long-ass event text for example.

Oh right I forgot to mention, the tentacle colors are actually tied to RPG classes
red: fighter
blue: mage
green: priest/healer
purple: diplomat/party face
yellow: merchant
teal ("indigo"): leader/teacher
this only affects their stat growth which is counted for missions or working, you can totally ignore it and just pick whichever color is prettiest too, when you raise their affection they start bringing you cash and other stuff anyway.
there's jobs, uniforms and training are associated with the colors but again that only matters for stat growth and it's pretty self-explanatory.

the training at the guild (the ones that cost 10k) are important for ero because for each one they'll make a bet to MC at the start and if MC loses the skill contest they fuck him/her in a unique situation:
fighter training: in public
mage training: while sleeping
healer training: doctor play, you're the patient of course
butler training: master/servant play, you're the servant of course
merchant training: under the desk/backroom work sekuhara (1 on 1 with the firstborn char in the party, unlike the others that are still group play)
teacher training: sex ed teacher/student roleplay, this is notably the only mode where you specifically tell them what to do. (they're still totally in charge and mocking their "sensei" though.) don't forget that there's the "teach with all your might" tab for harder play options.

if you're particularly masochistic you might want to give them the optimal uniforms and stay dressed in rags to ensure they overpower you for these. their stats can also be raised quickly by feeding them herbs you grow through gardening.

to give birth to more tentacles you need to acquire more "cores" through missions at the guild. the first mission type is some weird card game (that the AI plays automatically by default, you can give yourself control in the options), the second mission you go around collecting items on a minimap while running away from slimes, it's actually quite easy so you should pick that at first.
you'll also need to buy a bigger house pretty quickly because there's a housing limit as well, so save some money for that. the better houses increase your recovery rate when sleeping/bathing and such. if you're playing with the iso map you get to see your sweet new home too.

If I got a dollar for how many times I'd think Towa should be dead I could make all the poorfags in this thread billionaires and I'm only halfway through my second route.

what else... when you have many tentacleboys getting hungry you might wanna "leave it up to them" when picking the party composition, they will automatically rotate in and out of the party based on hunger each day, saves you a lot of time. Letting them pick their clothes is usually fine too, assuming you've stocked up on clothes before.

if you find that you have so many boys to please that you can't get them to maximum arousal for spawning before they switch out, book a vacation trip (1 on 1 with the firstborn in the party), take advantage of that time for solo play with that guy, and in the gift shop you can buy items to reset all the other guys' hunger and max their arousal when you come back, then take advantage of that window to get filled with eggs.
Pretty expensive though so do that when the vacation is way cheaper than the next house upgrade for example. you'll unlock increasingly expensive destinations like the spa and the beach as the game progresses (they're all unlocked from the start in the map version, though probably too much for your budget.)

Or just disregard the breeding objective and have fun with your harem.

However, the game relies on you completing it several times to feel truly satisfied, so prepare to invest some time on it. For an overseas release, the main task that's going to decide how long it takes to release the game is the translation, and it doesn't particularly require other work upstream (quite the opposite, there's plenty of work downstream that depends on the translation.) The sooner it get done the better.
There's basically no scenario I can imagine where delaying the translation would be beneficial to the project, so if they're telling the translator to go work on other projects for while because they've "hit a snag", it can only mean that they're considering abandoning the project or something along those lines.

Yes, normally if you want to cut your losses you should stop much earlier so it's not just a matter of deciding that the game won't sell enough or something.
