Why post a useless paid site? At this point it's an advertisement.

Heisig, textbooks, and the 10k Anki deck are literally better and free (if you "rent" the textbooks for free) or just use free textbooks like Tae Kim.

You should never pay for anything that isn't approved by real Japanese teacher from universities. Or at least only pay for something after you know what you are doing. As long as you are not on a decent Japanese level you need to trust real teachers how to start and only after you understand Japanese to a decent degree you can look after stuff on your own because you know what is a rip off and what is actually useful.

The reason why stuff like Genki, Minna no Nihongo, Tobira, and other textbooks are proven to be good is because universities use them. You can be sure that if they would be trash, those university would lose their reputation.

For example Harvard is using Genki to begin with Japanese. Do you really think Harvard is using a shit tier textbook if there is something better? Who do you trust more? Some random fucktard who is shilling his "immersion" shit show or Harvard?

What a lot of people don't get is that learning a language is not science. It's just pattern recognition. Therefore it's important to just use the best resources possible because you can't just "fill the gaps". A language is not math. There is no right or wrong in a language therefore you need to learn the rules and stop thinking about why they are this way. It's a language. It's by definition not something you can calculate.

If you want to ignore textbooks and just "find it out on your own", you have to learn math, physics, or anything else which is build on logic and where textbooks are optional because smart people can prove something without having to read it somewhere.
