A while back I watched a video of a Japanese guy who said he was able to learn English by simply reading English books and translating them as he went. Before that he had tried a bunch of programs to learn another language and none of them ever seemed to stick.

I got YW4 the other day and know Katakana, Hiragana, and a handful of Kanji. Would it be beneficial to play this game and translate it as I went or will that leave me in the same boat as a “localizer” where the only thing I’ll be able to do is recognize the characters enough to put them into a translation program?
