I like both, Baldr Sky and Muv-Luv, both are great and altough they have small similarities, they are in the end extremely different. and the ammount of moe and serious matter ratio in both are about the same. Muv-Luv has moe in mostly extra and decent ammounts in unlimited and alternative is almost devoit of it. while in baldr sky most moe comes from past school life sections and is almost non-existant in present. But let's not turn this thread to arguments of that.

There are some similar plot points between Baldr Sky and Muv-Luv, but even then they are done rather differently. But there are a lot of plot points that are different between them and the general feel and plot are different, so they really can't be compared that well in my opinion.

For a bit discussion, it was mentioned in other threads that Sora is wearing military/mercanary uniform. So this kept me thinking why would she be wearing one and is she official member. Most likely scenario is that she by some weird reason survived, but not unscratched (maybe assembler resambled her somewhere but without her memories or something) and then some mercanary group picked her up and after that she has been with them as she didn't have else where to go. Some other but unlikely scenarios I came up (and bit of bad), is that Makoto and Sora might be somekind of undercover agents that were send to investigate Saishuu. Or another one is that Sora again survived somehow and has been trailing Kou, but not shown herself to Kou for some reason. Those two last ones were bit of bad, but in the case that she belongs to some group and that her hair ornaments have changed, would seem to imply that she survived gray christmas. As there wouldn't be need to change appearance if you are wired ghost or it would be rather hard to join groups as just wired ghost or something. So what are peoples toughs on that matter?

I can see two possible ways how Sora survived.

1. Due to Quantum Immortality, there's a world out there where Sora survived unscathed. I.e Gungunir missed all of Sora's atoms. Highly unlikely but not impossible. Only possible if they're using the Many-worlds interpretation of Quantum mechanics, which the Agent seems to be hinting. This also means that on all the other routes, Sora really is dead.

I have no idea why she's in a military uniform though. At the very least she wouldn't be in GOAT (I doubt Isao would use her), Mercenary(Kou and Rain would have found her in the list) or an illegal mercenary under Gilbert (I doubt he can shut his trap about things like that).
CDF isn't military, Dominion isn't military. And I don't think its possible for Kou to somehow missed Sora if she joined Fenrir.

It's probably a new faction. Anti Integration perhaps? Isao keeps babbling about those yet we never see them.

Sora not being in GOAT, Dominion, Ark, Fenrir and CDF, I agree, as I doubt Kou wouldnt have heard of it and those places already have someone deeply related. as being in Anti Integration, it's most likely, as I doubt she would be in some random mercanary group as unofficial member, atleast she should be with someone we have already heard of (would be bad story telling if not). If shes with anti integration forces she could have been spy at Saishuu, altough Sora == Spy does not compute well with me. The probability of Sora surviving but horrible disfigured is higher than her surviving unscathed. That coupled with the assembler fixing her back might be what happened.

To be honest I would prefer if all the routes have the same starting point, ie Sora is alive on all the routes. I don't like another HF where Zouken suddenly appeared out of nowhere.

All the routes up to now diverges due to Kou's action whether directly or indirectly. It would be shitty if they suddenly showed a military Sora battling stuff out of nowhere.

But still I wouldn't mind if Sora is dead all along on all the other routes except hers. After all Kou moved on with another heroine on the other routes.

I dont think they would stupid enough to bring something out of the nowhere and start it at that. considering how well everything has been done till now, there probably has been some hints where everything may start. Aki and Makoto routes diverging points are rather clear when they may start, only one which is a bit ? is Soras route, but most likely there will be some indications in the two routes before at the very least. I wish they would release the OP movie tomorrow along with some new CGs, those could give some nice hints how everything will go.

About the story divergence path, I'm pretty sure Aki-nee involves joining Fenrir and not betraying them.

For Makoto and Sora I don't know, but Makoto might diverge if you successfully make it in time to save Eddy, thus making you investigate the Dominion and immediately bypassing Anan and the NPC traders.

It's a hard logic in the net that what's your form in the real world is your form in the virtual world but how did the AI know your form in the first place? When Chinatsu tried to dive after the accident she only appeared as a brain. It's also the reason why Nanoha's brain in a can is stuck in a localized virtual reality.

On related note, I wonder if this silhouette of simulcrum is of Soras? If it is, it seems to be based of Shadow Wolf (Kous simulcrum) which would imply that she got it during school years. But when she could have gotten it? during the incident with Kuu which has been referred or for some other reason? But generally Sora doesn't seem to be of fighter type tough, so it could be also someone elses.

The others who it might belong that I can think of is Noi and Noitsuen. As the base is designed by Aki, she could have seen Noi fighting with it and decided to make something similar, as I'm pretty sure Noi has one, but hasn't shown it us yet.
Or it could be Noitsuens, as if I remember correctly Aki once hacked to midspires Baldr system which Noitsuen was linked with when she died. So there might have been data of it in baldr system which Aki got from hacking it and then decided make something based of it. we'll this ofcourse again is based on assumption that Noitsuen had simulcrum, but considering his status, I'm pretty sure that he had.

She might have an awesome hacking ability too, and probably the reason why the AI picked her as the base for the terminal/Kuu. Or maybe she has CEBD like Makoto, which allows her to bypass security.

During a flashback we hear Sora talking to Noi apparently about Makoto's health. But why are they talking about that inside a tournament? I don't think that's the best place to talk about that kind of stuff. Why did they meet there? That's not really a place to consult a doctor with.

Anyway, yeah I think that simulcrum is Sora's. Probably customized by Makoto and Sora from the base Shadow Wolf. Maybe she joined the tournament in secret along with Makoto?

Then she tried and found leads during the Aki incident. She was also participating in the class and can answer Mother's question perfectly. That's what kinda have been saying here, I believe that the whole incident with Kuu lead to following things to happen: everybody learnt about Kuu (everybody seems to know her, but we havent seen how they got to know Kuu), Kuu died (it all happened before grey christmas), Kou and Sora falling in to love as Sora orginally wasn't love with him (maybe Kuus memories and feelings towards Kou get transferred to Sora when she died), gave everyone small emotional scar (not wanting to speak about it to Kou who lost his memories), as added bonus, maybe even Sora got her simulcrum during that time. About Makoto's simulcrum.

I think it was a present from Noi. In Chinatsu route at the tournament, Sora breaks off from the group to take a call from someone(you can tell it's Noi from the text color) talking about how "it" is her best piece of work and that she is giving it to Sora. Sora then says she has a gift to give to Makoto and walks off.

Dont go saying sad scenarios like that, but it's kinda weird but possible and now I'm getting weird ideas again about other possibilities like: AI creating "illusionary" existance of herself so that she can learn about human emotions and love (and she just happened to choose Kou for it), ofcourse real endig would contain assembler hijinks that causes Sora to become real person. Or another idea, maybe Sora and Kou were "programmed" to fall in love as a test how much AI can influence human mind (okay, that was bad). both are kinda cliched, so I really hope that they dont go that way with the story.

well, it's most discussed untranslated VN here on /jp/, heck it gets more discussion here than some translated VNs even, so draw your own conclusion from it. It also has delicious Noi and Rain and Sora and Makoto and Gerogory and Shizel and Kou is kinda good protagonist in my opinion.
