If you can't find any(low invest in wizard shops) or too expensive, you can make picnic baskets. The hardest part about it is getting the basket since you need 30 tailors, the rest is easy and it also help the potential of your pets.

From what I've seem so far, Elona+ is the newest version, but Custom apparently has more quality of life shit and a decent translation, but also stoped being developed...

You should play Custom-G because it translates the adventurer academy. If you're just on Custom it'll only be half-translated. It includes a lot of useful tips and tricks for a newbie.

A few steps out the door and the food rotted. Throwing it at someone netted a -2 karma loss, that's all. Eating it was fine. Picking it up removed the label, as did attempting to pick it up with a full inventory. Eating it from the floor kept the tag but there was no noticeable difference. Picking up the items and waiting in the shop caused them to rot. I'm guessing it's a tag that's added on the update tick that causes rotting, and is only there to serve as a warning that taking it with you won't work.

Okay, so I finally got it figured out. 'Sample' happens when you dump your stuff on the brown tiles with red ropes and, like the name suggests, are samples. They don't get sold. So, you can use your shop as storage, too - the biggest advantage to this (for me) is in stockpiling masses of cheap food or potions for the day I get the Aesthetic Sense feat on a shopkeeper. Those thousands of rice balls and assorted cheap non-perishables will rake it in, and without having to cart it across the overmap. Nice.

There's some code that keeps food fresh in shops, but it has nothing to do with 'sample'. At least, it isn't in the version I'm playing. Not that it matters with food shops as they'll sell off rotten food anyway. However, food that is kept in a shop won't rot when it ticks over (which is every few hours or so, I believe) except in some circumstances I've not researched. I suspect rot only occurs when you're in the shop when the update happens.
Presumably, the process which rots food only occurs when the map is loaded, and if it's a shop then it doesn't trigger. However, the rot timer still fires intermittently, and when it does the food in the shop rots.
It depends on how the timer triggers but I suppose it's possible that a sufficiently fast PC could move food that should be rotten from one end of the map to the other by using a string of shops, dropping the food prior to the update tick, leaving, then returning. It's possible that food has its' freshness set to 180 or something when the PC enters the shop, and that there is no 'rot loop' or such. I think this is the most likely case, really.

When the gift were more comon you didn't had to rely on 10 choco per years to be able to use the astral pen. Token of friendship are only given at the new year in your home, that's worse than choco and you need to get the visitors and them to give it to you.
The only semi-cancer way I can think of is resting the pyramid map and farm the single book of resurrection in the hidden room, but that's cheating.
With the 10 choco per year, that's barely enough for 2 astral pen uses per year.

It's better to lose 20pv if you're still gettign 40 more than the next light weight choice. You can't have everything in life, compromises have to be made.
Anyway if you want light weight, you're probably a 30 years old virgin, Holy Shield boost your pv by 20% and add some. The 20% won't scale, but the bonus and the duration does so make sure to keep it trained. Also don't get in melee with monsters that will fuck your ass, teleport them away and continue attacking from range.

That moment when you realize the place you are at in the void means you can handle dungeons way above your level. I just hit up a south tyris level 95 dungeon and the haul of potential potions and speed uppers was way worth it. I need lockpicks now because of all the chests I found. This is great. The only thing I'm having issues with right now are pet resists, I really need to round out my group.

Fire@dragonchild's evolution doesn't use megid flame very often, the main appeal of that pet is its massive health pool.
Most pets are about the same in terms of viability, the only time where pet choice matters is with casters or special action users.

Going past level 10 will give you bloodsucking, but it does make you a lot stronger. Bloodsucking is definitely manageable, but it's definitely annoying, so it's up to you

It was probably the third one hitting low. Dice overall should have very little relevance with as much added damage as I have, I would think. Enemy must have had substantial prot for pierce to work on since I was doing only 300 and not like 1500 a hit.

That'd be an interesting behavior. Next dungeon boss I'll drop my vorpal sword against to test it then.

Shitty boss this time but I'm still seeing almost no difference on vorpal proc vs none. Above the red line is mournblade+stormbringer, below red line is mournblade+claymore, damage is almost identical across the board.

It's worth mentioning that I was getting like 75 per hit until the first ever vorpal, but the following damage boost persists through new attacks after weapon swaps, so I'm pretty sure that's the lasting PV debuff and not the complete pierce effect. I self-nerfed slightly for this test (+235 damage instead of +300) but it should still be astronomically high if the enemy's %DR is being reduced and prot dice are being ignored.

It's possible continuous attacks is doing something to pierce effects from vorpal, however it might just be that there's not much difference with it active. Vorpal reduces enemy pv by 100/150, or 2/3. However, you also some built-in pv reduction from your weapon that doesn't stack with vorpal. In newer versions of plus you also get even more pierce from weapon skill, presumably up to 50% since it's based on MA's scaling.

So, in practice you are only probably getting a bit of extra pierce. It's probably also being drowned out by the effects of the pv reduction you mentioned earlier. I know from my testing that at max weapon skill a light-sabre now gets the same 100/150 as vorpal**, but without the pv debuff.


** earlier plus added in pierce reduction based on armor skill, but now that pierce is boosted by weapon skill they seem to cancel out.

In any case, the debuff side of vorpal at least seems to work though. Guess I'll have to see with lightsabers whether it's truly worth it or not.

Oh, it sets the pv to 1/3, not the DR. The DR % number there is mostly an artifact of vanilla and doesn't really tell you much.

Damage is multiplied by 100 / (100 + PV * (150 - pierce) / 150) where pierce is the attacker's pierce in percentage points.

So, reducing pv to 1/3 would give x3 damage boost in the best case scenario. If you are going from 50/150 to 100/150 reduction, It'll only be 2x in the best case.

Based on what I've seen so far, against high PV enemies in particular like big daddies or bosses, the lightsabers will do way more damage than stormbringer/mournblade (15% pierce but much bigger dice), but once vorpal procs the gap will pretty much disappear for multiple turns. Never seen any particularly big numbres from vorpal hits themselves with any weapon combination though.

Pretty much, vopal is both 100% pierce on that hit, and a PV penalty for a short duration.
100% pierce isn't "ignore all PV", it's closer to "ignore two-thirds". Later on, a third of an enemy's PV will still be a significant amount.
The reason it combines so well with continuous attacks is that all subsequent attacks will benefit from the PV penalty, but they'll also be able to roll vopal themselves for even more pierce.

PV is actually the wrong word to use here, all the defences on high level enemies are typically coming from their skills and stats, and they'll have little to no actual DV or PV, something which is readily apparent if you use crush damage spacts on them. PV is the accepted *if innacturate) term though, so I'll keep using it

Maybe the enemies at my level just aren't high enough yet for the pierce on vorpal attacks to matter after the debuff I guess. The math still seems odd there though. An inner god should have PV well over 1k even with a PV debuff. With that amount, reducing it to 1/3rd should more than double your damage according to the wiki formula. The boost is substantial but evidently not at the level of even doubling.
