in instances when adverbs/adverbial nouns/whatever show up like 明らかに、完全に、正直に、ように etc. i always have this sense that the information is moving seamlessly from left>right/ top>down.

but in cases like just recently i found:

or hell, in simpler cases like にする、になる, i feel like the information is moving in reverse, or rather i feel the need to need to walk the information backwards to make it make sense to me.

noun(non location) + ni + verb tends to feel like tends to feel like を at times, i know it's not, so that mades me even more confused.

After months and months of stagnation I can tell you one thing that works for reading:

>go to the reading section
>turn on "show definition on miss" in the options
>start taking it grade by grade
>get 100% on one grade
>get 100% again on the same grade but this time don't let yourself look at the multiple choice options before answering
>keep doing this for a couple days to make sure you really have it down
>go to options and change the answer type to readings instead of meanings
>do the same two steps: 100% with multiple choice, 100% without
>go on to the next grade

This takes a ton of time but if you can do this with 6 or more grades you'll be very good at reading

So I am finding that I am forgetting a lot of cards after my interval hits a certain point and I am not sure how to go about fixing it. I am learning Japanese, so I am mostly dealing with sentence cards mostly

Here is a rundown of my settings

1, 10, 1 day, 3 days >>> Graduate (4 days ) >>>> algorithm takes over

ease 250

Current interval mod = 64%

So going with these settings, the intervals are going to look like this

4 days 7.5 days 15 days 37.5 days

My retention is generally ok for the first two steps but the issue arises when I hit the 3rd step. After I pass the 15-day interval, the intervals start to grow astronomically and I effectively won't be seeing those cards again for another 5 weeks and it is within this period that I am forgetting most of them.

I can't adjust the interval any further as I have already set it to target 86% retention using the calculator and that will also make Anki show me cards I already know well more often. That only leaves me with the option of adjusting the modifier itself but this won't affect the cards that are already being reviewed. I am also worried that adjusting both the modifier and ease is going to completely mess everything up

Another option is to establish a longer learning phase before card graduation

Your retention might improve with different settings, but i think you need to immerse more. Learning vocab through Anki is great to get a basic understanding of the word, but it won't really click with only Anki. You have to encounter it in different contexts in native content to get a deeper understanding and make it stick. Reading books or manga is great for this.
