I got the girl in 61 days, so I don't think 50 would be too hard. Just avoid the other girls entirely, and try to make sure to go to places the girl is likely to be, while still managing your stats well. (Manaka likes athleticism and smarts) Though I've been surprised finding them in random places.

I'm curious though, will I always refer to the girl by her last name?

I found the location of the email replies within the game script files.

Interestingly, all email replies are on the same line with no obvious separator. This leads me to think that the pointer tables at the beginning of each document dictate where each option starts and ends, which means that they will have to be modified for any in-angine translation to work.

Hopefully that DS hacking forum helps us. Some guys there have done pretty much the exact same thing for other games, so I'm hoping they'll give some advice.

Well, the wiki doesn't really say that their favourited stat dictates confession, just that it's their favourite.

I know that in my playthrough, activities that improved my sense stat made nene happy. Circumstantial, but they do seem to matter.

I can't say for sure what the flag for her is, but try to maximize sports or whatever is called and the green bar (knowledge I think).
Also do the exams (schedule options with a little colored "V". The color is the stat you need to pass it).
By day 65 she confessed to me and my blue and green bar was at max and the other almost empty.

I don't know Manaka, but I would think you should do the club once a day, and mix the rest of the day up. Ask her to walk home together everytime you see her, send her mail every morning and night if she doesn't send you one. Give her a response she likes if she asks you something or you have to make a choice. Also, the 'type' bar on the left side of the screen doesn't mean much. I think it only means what type of personality she currently has. The face under feeling should be as happy as possible.

And try to contact them. Its a great post about how they decrypted the files, but at the end they say changing the text required messing with the file pointers and that is not discussed.

Perhaps they have a tool already for this? It would make things a lot easier. A huge amount of games have been translated to Chinese and Suikoden 12 used .txrc files.

Skinship can be split into 4 phases: "1: before skinship", "2: skinship", "3: before kiss", and "4: kiss".

First is "1: before skinship"
There is a meeting version and a walking side by side (like coming home from school) version.
On the left screen a guage showing people's gaze will appear. Aim for a touch when the guage is low.
Don't slide; touch. Guage has the 5 stages of 0, 1, 2, 3, and flickering(max).
When the guage is at 0, you can usually touch anywhere and still clear, so aim for it if you can.
Just waiting for 0 is inefficient because it can time-out, so compromise with 1~2.
If you've comprimised, you will fail when touching bold? areas such as hair or body; so only touch moderate areas such as hand or shoulder. These rules may be affected by intimacy.

Here's part 2!

Clear 1 and you're going to "2: skinship".
This part too, is not slide, but touch. Basically, around the hair and shoulder is safe.
If you can touch the area around her mouth then aim for the hand too.
It ends after approximately 4 hearts appear.
There is no need to change the location of the touch every time, so if you touch once and a pink heart appears, there's no problem doing the same action for the 4 times.
Change the touching location if a blue heart appears (if the girl is Manaka then she will usually get mad if you touch the body).
If 2 blue hearts appear then it might end.
Incidentally, in the walking side by side version, when you touch the hand or the shoulder they end up holding hands and it ends. (Intimacy probably rises too.)
If you're on that version and want to proceed on to the next phase, don't touch the hand or shoulder.

Right now the only problem I'm having is working out the string length. It can be done somewhat accurately to a point by using the next pointer address but that's unreliable and starts to lead to bad output a little before halfway through gd_textres_04_jpn.txrc.

Here's some split up stuff with the numbers included if someone wants to try working this out. Using the next pointer become unreliable since sometimes the next pointer is a repeat of an earlier one (?) or is null. Maybe if each pointer was read in then sorted, but I don't really know. There's gotta be some way for it to figure out the size other than that.

Part 3

Clear 2 and and you get another phase similar to 1.
The tricks are still the same so aim for a time when the gaze meter is low.
Ckear this and her heavy breathing gets a little risque. On to phase "3: before kiss"! This phase is not touching, but sliding. Hair, forehead, cheeks, or shoulder can be rubbed and look for a pink trace/track.
Keep rubbing and the colour changes to Pink -> Red -> Yellow which increases the sensitivity.
Eventually it will change into blue, so look for another place where pink hearts appear.
Just repeat this and you will easily get Heart MAX (5 times).
The game is pretty lenient on detecting touching locations, and her face moves around, so halfhearted sliding is ok.
This is the easiest part of skinship, so lets rub and grin!
Incidentally, a green heart will appear on the top left of the screen. Touch that and you get a selection of either "I love you (愛してる)" or "I like you (好き)".
It disappears when you're about to touch it sometimes so it might be a bit hard to touch it.
It can come up for 3~4 times and the selection select sound changes, but the effect is still unknown.

Love Plus mode, things you can say

「はい」 hai (yes)
「いいえ」 iie (no)
「彼女の名前を呼ぶ」 (Call out her name)

The accumulated hearts is the amount of time you can kiss for. This part is basically touching. Only long touch when you kiss her lips.
5 places you can kiss are hair, forehead, cheeks (touch the outlines of her face), near lips, and lips.
The places you should aim for change depending on how the girl acts. (Below is Manaka’s)
Face forward, closed eyes -> Lips (release immediately and she’ll feel lonely. Unless you’re sadistic you should push down for as much as you can)
Face forward, opened eyes -> Cheek, near lips.
Facing a little downwards, eyes closed -> Forehead.
Facing even more downwards, eyes opened -> Hair.
It is generally something like this but it doesn’t always seem to bring up a good evaluation.
If you manage to continue to get a good reactions repeatedly, she will request another kiss. (AKA: Refrain Kiss. If this happens you will receive something[TL note: or she will do something? The wording isn’t very clear.])
After the kiss, she will react with “hmm…”, “I like you”, or “I love you” depending on how well you did.

■Bug information

- Caution: Girlfriend part tutorial ends, you save, open the same data file, pick Real Time mode, and if the time is in 21:00 - 8:00, then you get stuck in that time.
-> Disconnect the power, and wait until morning. Be careful if this is your first playthrough!

- There was voice, but suddenly the voices stop working.
-> Save, turn off power. Replace/charge batteries and the voices will return. This often happens when you use sleep mode. If you leave it like that there is a chance of the game freezing.

Success! Finally got my mic working. Before I was using NDS2xGL2, linked in the OP. I switched to NO$Zoomer and now it works.

As a bonus it also seems to have more options for zooming and stuff.

I bought this one months ago for 15€ and it works like a charm, it even came with an usb microSD reader.

I think I've figured out the string length problem now. There needs to be a little work done on it though since it looks like certain strings mess it up or something.

There was a logic error in my program when actually dumping the strings. I've pretty much fixed it now although I need to look into these two garbage lines at the bottom of the 04 file. Here's some proper output. From what I can tell, everything but the last 2 lines (not shown) in this dumped file are good.
