I'm glad that someone reuploaded it finally, I saw segments of it on niconico in 2011/12 and it vanished shortly after and was completely gone for years, like the only result you'd get on google was the announcement/ticket pre-sale of the show it self and nothing else.

As for some notable jpop releases that hadn't been mentioned Hitsuji bungaku really killed it with Zawameki minialbum. It's a masterpiece of touching lyricism and pop hooks. Their first major release POWERS was also good but Zawameki was just too perfect.

First full album by Stereo Girl was very nice. Sort of culmination of everything they have done up now. New arranges are nice. Very good release overall. Definitely a band to pay attention to.

ayutthaya's new mini was fab. HARVEST by LOSTAGE was the absolute best what alt rock can offer. Gotou Mariko's Violence Pop is something we've been waiting for years and years and seeing it finally realized was a moment in a lifetime, especially considering how good it is. YAYYAY were the top, art pop we truly needed. GING NANG BOYZ new album doesn't even need a mention. Shinda boku no kanojo return was a nice touch.

I went through LOSTAGE earlier this year and I enjoyed Harvest as well, the reggae inspired track was probably my favourite. Almost every track had an acoustic guitar accompaniment which they hadn't really done before, which I thought was a nice way to freshen things up since a fair amount of their discography has that trademark LOSTAGE sound that could get samey at parts.

Honestly there's so much genuinely good music in the indie/underground idol scene that I don't think there needs to any qualifications for liking it. Even some mainstream idol groups put out really quality music. MUSiC and playlist from Ebichu, which both came out in 2019, are unironically really damn good albums regardless of the fact Ebichu is a super mainstream idol group.

I found out about them because they did Abyss for Especia so I've followed them over the years from that. They're cool, they've done stuff for other groups I like such as RYUTist. Also it's because of them that I wound up finding out there's some really awesome music coming out of Indonesia and Thailand (since Ikkubaru's an Indonesian group). Definitely listen to some stuff like Mondo Gascaro, Vira Talisa or Thai idol groups like Fever if you can.

To keep it kind of on topic, Thai group Plastic Plastic just did a song with SHE IS SUMMER a few months ago that's really good.

That rule isn't actually really enforced, the torrents usually just get reported. There are a ton from 10+ years ago with reports that are still on the do not upload list that haven't been taken down.
There's no real difference afaik, large portions of the rules and site design is straight up a copypaste of jps, but also no reason not to join since it's essentially just a janky backup of jps

The issue with Jpopsuki is that the site owner hasn't actually logged into the site for like 7 years and it's unclear the last time any mods were actually able to communicate with him. The whole concept of the album is oriented towards USA. It incorporates grunge and alt rock sensibilities of 90s US scene. I was admittedly a bit surprised considering how they albums so far have dealt with mostly Japanese sensibilities but the album turned out so good I can't really complain.

I've been reading a lot of stuff on 5ch about another anime MV for the full version like the Ruruchan one, but when it's coming out is unknown. It could either be on the 22nd/today, or in March/April because it's still not finished. I haven't been able to watch Noko's streams so I don't know exactly what he's said about it. There's also the possibility it's not an anime MV at all and it's just another one of his clever misdirections to keep people guessing.

What is interesting is that the fact that they were doing the OP for AoT was completely secret (except for the foreign leak) and unconfirmed until the first episode aired. However, back in a stream in September, he hinted at it by saying they were recording a song at the moment but didn't reveal any details, except for the first line of the Japanese chorus (because they were recording the vocals that day)

I'm trying to find an artist from the 80s
I think she was an idol but I'm not too sure about that. Haruomi Hosono worked on a lot of her stuff. She had short (boyish cut), curly hair. In one of her music videos there are these guys spinning and dancing behind her while she sings. And she has a song with effects/synths that sound like dogs barking in the background.

Recently heard Shiina Ringo's song Honnou (Instinct) on a whim and loved it. What should I listen to next?

I'll always be pissed about what happened to FLiP. When I discovered them about 9 or 10 years ago I was hooked. They had every tool needed to be huge stars and their label (Sony I think) once they went major completely fucked them. IIRC they kept trying to push them in more of a poppy girl band direction like Scandal instead of the aggressive and kind of grungy sound that they liked playing. From what I remember reading it completely disillusioned them from even playing music, the band went into "indefinite hiatus" (that's been going for 5 years now) and they all went into effective retirement. I think Yuumi (the drummer) does some very low level indie stuff but that's it. Michi Evolution is a fantastic album.
