when i was a teenager, i was forced to learn french. i actually became pretty good too, i guess you could say i "acquired" french, but over the last 10 years i "unacquired" most of it because i never used it again.
this experience taught me that you should only invest time into learning a language if you plan to use it regularly for the rest of your life.
that's why im learning japanese now because im a massive weeb and dont care about the french. and it's why I'll probably never learn another language again after this, unless my life changes in a major way.
