I think they overestimate their brand, sure indo weebs are strong and some local talent from nijiID and holoID has strong foreign viewership but that's because nijisanji and hololive backs them in the first place, hell, I don't really see clips even from local clipper.

This has come up several times.
Yuki's rigged model was 40000 and I am pretty sure she isn't otherwise experienced and expecting to make it big.
Many other hobbies people do for fun have initial buy in costs well above a few hundred USD equivalent and ongoing costs way greater than that of a streaming setup.

An entry level sewing machine will set you back a few hundred.
Camping gear, hiking equipment, biking will all cost a few hundred dollars minimum.

Most sports other than povertykick will have equipment costs and ongoing fees for playing locations.
Baking equipment above the basic kitchen equipment can easy cost hundreds.
