I do wonder if vtubers getting too big is an existential threat for the companies like Hololive and Nijisanji.

The bigger you get and the more money you see coming your way the more you are going to start to question things like what exactly is the company doing for you and how much more you could be making as independent.

It's not really like other talent industries where the company is almost essential to do the work itself, they might be important from a marketing perspective if you are a nobody but once you are already famous and making a ton of cash acquiring the technology to go indie is peanuts.

Not so much now but last year Nijisanji had multiple company wide Splatoon tournaments with the usual training arcs leading up to the tournament, kind of like with the apex tournaments recently but smaller. There were also some people that did ridiculous endurance challenges.
