A lot of games have a time limit on pvp matches. So defensive teams just stall out that timer without dying, rather than actually doing much damage.
How that gets scored depends on the game, and decides how useful this strategy is there.
Attack gets valued more since you need a team that can actually kill stuff to clear the game's content. But if there's some kind of asynchronous pvp ranking you need to defend your placement in, and ties/timeouts go to the defender, that's a place these teams can come in.

For the glass cannon thing, I think it depends on that game's particular mechanics. In that case it relies on your defensive team's defense being strong enough to shrug off the glass cannon team's attack for long enough to do the bit of damage they can take.
But it's something that'd be an option to try in such a case, at least. As would a fast team to get your damage in before the glass cannon team can go off, if the game has stuff to let you do that.

There is online multiplayer but as the game is old, the active community is pretty small now. If you're not in Japan or North America, or if you're on PC instead of PS4, you will likely have to resort to joining matchmaking discords. If you're in North America playing on console, then you can occasionally find people randomly in the online public lobby during primetime hours. If you're a beginner you'll have it hard as most people that still play the game are veterans by now, and the lower skilled players are mostly newbie bullies that will choose characters that are good at abusing lack of knowledge checks or matchup experience.

There is an anime fighting game general on /vg/ that has some beginners that play on PC. It's an okay general if you only go there to ask for games and ignore all of the other cancer that commonly happens in there.

I've been playing a whole lot of Tokimeki Idol recently.
I only just found out about how after the game died the devs released an offline version with no cut content for free.
The rhythm game part is pretty fun. The song variety is surprisingly good. There's a lot of idol music but also video game remixes and a couple really wacky tracks. Some of the songs are ridiculously catchy, and I keep finding myself humming them.
The whole game has a really cheery, positive attitude. No matter how badly you clear a song, you still unlock new outfits and new story scenes. When I used to play rhythm games and I'd fail over and over, I would get pretty self-loathing and stressed out. Tokimeki Idol never makes me feel like that. It's always providing you with opportunities to improve and to strive to do new things, but it doesn't get upset at you or punish you when you fail. It's comfy.
There isn't much story, and there isn't anything that will be new to you if you've read a good moege in the last fifteen years. At the same time, I've found it oddly entrancing. I think about it a lot even when I'm not playing it. All of the girls are so supportive of each other and you and everyone around them. Even if their personalities can be on the shallow side, the way they uplift everyone they meet and stay positive no matter what is somehow incredibly inspiring to me.
I ended up especially liking Nanana, who is a female best friend kind of character. At first I thought she would be incredibly annoying, but I grew to understand how spontaneous and passionate and honest she really is. She's a great character and I smile a bit every time I see her.

If you're the kind of person who likes mobage but despises microtransactions or gets depressed that one day the game and all your favorite characters will be gone forever, I really recommend it. It's a solid freeware mobage you can play at any pace you like, and that something like that exists makes me happy.

Each motion of his normal attack summons a number of projectiles that deal damage - when your team holds more portal keys, the number of projectiles is decreased. When the enemy holds more, the number is increased.

I got a used Razer phone, first gen. Battery is fine, doesn't seem to overheat, and everything loads quickly. Aside from losing an oled screen, it's a complete improvement over my old one which struggled with everything. I almost want to use it for my main phone but don't want to watch it do a backflip out of my pocket or have goolag fuck up my "Japanese" account. Ones in good working condition are fairly rare on ebay now though, but I'm not sure how second gen fares in comparison since there's a lot of those available. I'm having a good time, and it seems like they're very generous with the gotcha chances & premium currency.

There's clearly a lot of features that are still in development or that aren't released and the scaling card system is pretty generic for this kinda game.

I haven't spent any money so I'm clearly behind whales, and I've clearly hit what's supposed to be the first major paywall, but I feel that if I keep grinding I'll get through it with no problems.

Also, I don't speak a lick of Japanese (nor can I read it) and I'm playing perfectly fine. The only issue I've run into where I don't understand what's happening is the CHARM upgrades. It seems like there's some sort of branching/upgrading/downgrading system that's a little beyond the normal "upgrade with X currency" system the rest of the game uses.

6-7/10. Average but fun if you're a fan of the anime or plays.

I love this meme. Cygames is probably one of the most generous kusoge developers out there, they hand out free rolls all the time and anyone who isn't sub-30 IQ can get every character they want with having even a little bit of saving up gacha currencies.

Just because someone is giving you free rolls doesn't mean they're generous, there are a lot of systems in place that need to be considered and as an example, Cygames loves to fill their gachas with worthless perms and make the rates much lower outside of fes to offset the amount of rolls you get. Even during fes they can be low, they recently added a new second fes gacha to Starlight Stage and even though the rates were 6% and they gave out free rolls during it, the rate up for the 1 worthwhile card in it was .75% and it was a big powercreep in regards to quality of life.That is the actual Cygames experience that you get when playing their games unless you're a gambling addict who only logs in for free rolls. You can say "save for your favorites" all you want but the reality is that they powercreep enough that people end up rolling for esports, or in this case, huge quality of life improvements anyway and rolling outside of fes often requires sparking.

Sparking is good but when the rates are so low that you have to constantly do it, and you quite often do playing things Cygames puts out, you still end up getting fucked and running out of jewels anyway. If Cygames was as generous as people claimed then their games wouldn't be making as much money as they do, go look at the history of Azur Lane's revenue to compare it to because for as popular as that game was during its peak, it made absolutely nothing in comparison to even games that are barely popular at all.

The only game you can actually have a point with in regards to their generosity is Dragalia but I wouldn't be surprised if that game was kept alive solely out of spite and they've made it increasingly jewish over time. That's also ignoring that the only reason it failed as hard as it did was because of how absurdly jewish it was at the start and that they have to give away free things to keep the remaining players in Japan interested because it brings in less money than World Flipper does. Their track record for their games at launch has been fucking awful recently.
