I usually just swap between NagaMutsu with 2CV/Yuubari/CAV and Nelson Touch with 2BB/1CV/2CAV, and it works well enough. This month only took 8 attempts without any support, and 2 of those were S-ranks.

Not really, the explosive nips used in their torps was pretty shit (7% more powerful than TNT vs 50%) when compared to torpex&HBX that bongs&burgers started to use around late '42 and thus by mid to later war your standard 490kg type 93 was fairly anemic when compared to its allied counterparts.
