Kogasa is a normal youkai and thus eats people, so she's easy to grimdark. But somehow I think Kogasa would be more of a permanent victim, the one that all the other youkai shit up on and even regular humans throw rocks at. Her "power" is basically to go "OGGA BOOGA BOOGA".

I love Katzeh's versions of animal youkai, the ones with fur and multi-nipples. They aren't cute, they are not even proper furries, they are fucking bestial and repulsive and would be damn frightening to up and meet.

The picture with the Yakumos feeding, Chen blissfully tearing away at the flesh of a severed human arm and Ran popping eyeballs into her mouth with chopsticks with deceptive elegance is one of my all time favorite Touhou illustrations.

Therefore, she is the embodiment (a part) of spring.

Letty is a yuki onna. She doesn't have any connection with the season itself. You'd expect to meet her on snowy mountains in a blizzard during every season. Cirno, as a fairy, is more like an embodiment of winter / cold / ice.

Fairy Herald of Spring

Lily White

Stage 4 midboss. She's a fairy who appears when the weather grows warmer with spring's approach.

She mainly has the ability to announce the coming of spring.

Within the game, she uses neither words nor Spell Cards.

Her season has yet to come, so she only has access to a tiny sliver of her ability.

How much longer must she wait? When she checked above the clouds, spring had already arrived. She only wanted to announce that spring was finally coming to everyone nearby, but to Reimu and her companions, it unfortunately appeared as a hostile attack to them.

Daiyousei is a fairy of unkown origin.
We don't know what part of nature she represents until ZUN tells us.
However, it can't be important by itself since there are thousands of fairies.

Every "regular" youkai is dead easy to grimdark simply because they eat humans. That's all you need.

The complicated ones fall into two groups, special characters and canon benevolent ones. Of latter, there aren't many. Keine is the most notable and she's grimdark as fuck by her very place in the cosmology as the arbiter of what is real past and what isn't.

Special characters include things like Lily, youkai that don't eat meat (the rabbits), humans (Sakuya is very grimdark even in canon) and "miscellaneous" like Letty, who is established in PCB as an extinction-level threat to all humans if she simply doesn't go to bed in time.

Really, most of Touhou is trivially easy to give the GD treatment.

She's old. She's been around for longer than carrots have been cultivated. How old do you think she is? A few thousand years old? A hundred thousand? A billion?

Quantum immortality granted from luck has left her carefree, with no-one crossing her seriously. She waltzes from one place to another, barely settling in it for a few hundred years before moving to the next, laughing as she goes.

The luck that she brings is only temporary. When she moves on, empires crumble.

Lily White carries the essence of spring and while announcing spring, uses it to make flowers/trees bloom.

That's why in PCB, the player himself/herself brought spring along as he/she collected "spring".

Rinnosuke is half-demon in canon, and there's no way that kind of coupling happens voluntarily. He's an opportunist, a profiteer determined to make a buck from the neverending human/youkai war, always scheming, always playing one side off the other to his own benefit.
