By the way, you can't actually upgrade the mk.V spiftire in the the mk. IX. You're confusing that for the seafire, which is honestly pretty trash and not worth converting a spitfire into. All in all, it takes approximately 64 screws to upgrade a base spitfire into a maxed Mk.V. The screw approximation comes from the fact that when upgrading the mk.I, no upgrades except the final conversion are garunteed and when upgrading the Mk.V, upgrades are garunteed while the equipment is 9* or above. The approximate values for non guaranteed upgrades are based on the expected values listed here https://en.kancollewiki.net/Improvement (the value table in the "Improvement Success Rates" section multiplied by screw costs).
In a similar manner, the approximate cost a maxing a T1 hayabusa fighter is about 88 screws, and a shiden model 11 is about 65.
