Lived in Japan for two years and loved every second of it. Came back to go back to school, and plan on moving back to Japan when I'm done.

You'll like Japan if:
1. Like Japanese food that is not sushi, ramen, curry
2. Become proficient at speaking Japanese.
3. Like Japanese culture outside of anime and manga.

If you include the eight months that I was an exchange student. I've lived in Japan for nearly two years. No plans on moving back and becoming a citizen. The only things I really miss are my friends, Akihabara, and the Shinto shrines.

As an Asian-American teaching in Japan, I find acceptance a lot more easily than everyone else. The whole racism thing happens, but it's never to the extent that would make one consider moving back stateside.

As others have mentioned, it's okay to be into all the weeabootaku things here, but you have to appreciate the rest of the culture too, if you're planning on living here. I'm on my 5th year now.

I look pretty damn racially ambiguous to normal Americans, so I can imagine that I can get by pretending to be white in Japan. It's not like they know where the family name "Garcia" comes from. My black 3D waifu may have a harder time there, but luckily she'd probably suck too much at the language to understand any insults.
