She got nerfed pretty hard, especially on her guard crushes, so she's definitely not top tier anymore, but I've had some success with her. I'm not a great Alice, though, so I can't give you any specific tips. Just try not to get hit by random projectiles and work on surviving a decent rushdown.

And was this your first time fighting a Suwako? I can usually tell because her 5-cost SNAAAAAAKES spellcard is something that usually only works once per person. Once they've avoided it once, it never works again ;_;
I also aim this at >>3184256, since with the right positioning setup crap like that and her whole underground healing thing may just actually make her SCs the best in the game. Especially considering with the latter hardly anybody knows what to do; most people just mash A or something until she comes out, promptly resulting in block then rape in the face.

I generically built Reisen's deck to how I actually play my children's card game (aka Yugioh). Basically, stack a bunch cards that forces you to discard cards from your hands, disabling you from playing any 4 or 5 cost cards in mid to late game.

Also, Suika's Gourd Spellcard is one of the best support card in any deck.

I do it all the time. I'm sure there's a brief interval for which she can't block after coming out of it, but it's so sudden that it's nearly impossible to predict unless you're counting exactly how many nanoseconds it lasts.
The RIGHT way to beat the crap out of her when she comes out is to charge an unblockable skill like Cirno's alt. 22B/C for example or even Yukari's train SC if you can wait long enough to keep it from going off before or too long after she pops up.
Point being, I've only fought a couple players who didn't mash A when I did it, personally.

I suppose, but if the Suwako player knows what they're doing I'm pretty sure it's possible to come out of the ground with a 214B/C waterspout or 6B uppercut, meaning the A-spammer has more or less a 50/50 chance to either hit or take one of those, which our frogloli can combo the crap out of you from.
Honestly though, I'm expecting her to get the biggest nerf in the next patch because of that broken bullshit infinite combo which I still can't figure out how to pull off and when that happens she'll most likely be left with less options and more vulnerable frames in general, making that situation a bit easier to handle for the other side. Then again by that point she'd already be virtually unplayable so you'd probably never face one in netplay anyway.

Are you sure you saved the controller config to the profile you're using? The only thing I can think of making that happen would be if you were using the wrong profile.
On a sort of similar note, with the default controls my PS2 USB controller used triangle as an OK button and circle for back, but when I changed the config to make X A as opposed to triangle and so on, triangle was STILL the OK button. If you didn't actually play matches and just assumed it reverted to default, that's probably what happened to you.

Having played SWR helps a little, but for the most part the nerfbat didn't miss anybody. Just about every returning character has been changed so much that you almost entirely have to relearn them. I've only seen a couple exceptions so far, like Suika and Reimu.
And there are a lot of returning SWR players like myself who stopped playing SWR after a few months, which is more or less starting over.

Komachi got nerfed in one way and buffed in another. She's weaker in the air now; j.6A/j.2A are much slower and j.6A has a slight blindspot again, so no more IAD j.6As killing your approach anymore, but 2C is so fast now that it links off 5A. So less air shutdown, more controlling space by blowing up shit. That and she got a really buff spellcard that regens health and does way too much damage for the type of character she is.

It combos of 5AAAA, but it's a personal choice. I haven't liked that card since 1.02 SWR. If I have to spend 5 cards to halve someone's life, I'd rather take 6 over time to do Chaserghosts and pressure them into making mistakes while running away, since even landing a single 5A gets them blown up for definite crush+tons of chip+oki/3k~damage+oki.

Komachi was never slow, and she did get a damage buff, too. She's smack in the middle, I would think. She's got the moveset to handle virtually any matchup. She is the one matchup Youmu can't walk all over, after all. I think overall that she's stronger than she was in SWR.

I'd say you've got it. You handled pressure better than most, and waited to punish mistakes instead of forcing it. At the end, you were doing some major corner pressuring yourself. I couldn't find a way of stopping that 2Dj.5A you snuff me with a few times (sans Cirno), but now I have some ideas.

Overall, pretty good play. I hate the priority she gets on her 5A/j.5A, but that'll reopen the Komachi Bitch-Rants of '08.

I don't know why you have the impression people are stopping to play Soku, they game is fun and still has tons to figure out.

I played 255 netplay games on Soku on the last 5 days (that's 51 games per day, only counting netplay) with over 16 different people, and I still didn't even play all the people I know from SWR. The game still has a long way.

First three days I played Soku and was trying to learn the SWR system for the first time, Utsuho players destroyed me. Still, she's pretty beastly when played a bit more defensively. Uppercuts (3A) stuff poor jump-in attempts.
