魔女は賢者を讃え、四つの宝を授けるだろう。
一つは、黄金郷の全ての黄金。
一つは、全ての死者の魂を蘇らせ。
一つは、失った愛すらも蘇らせる。
一つは、魔女を永遠に眠りにつかせよう。

My beloved hometown, the sweetfish river running through it.
You who seek the Golden Land, follow its path downstream and seek the key.

If you follow the river downstream, you will find a village.
In the village, look for the shore the two will tell you of.
There sleeps the key to the Golden Land.


He who lays hand upon the key shall travel under the rules below.

At the first twilight, you shall lift up as sacrifice the six chosen by the key.
At the second twilight, those who remain shall tear apart the two who are close.
At the third twilight, those who remain shall praise my honorable name on high.
At the fourth twilight, gouge the head and kill.
At the fifth twilight, gouge the chest and kill.
At the sixth twilight, gouge the stomach and kill.
At the seventh twilight, gouge the knee and kill.
At the eighth twilight, gouge the leg and kill.
At the ninth twilight, the witch shall be revived and none shall be left alive.
At the tenth twilight, the journey shall end and you should reach the village of gold.


The witch will praise the wise, and should bestow four treasures.
One shall be, all the gold from the Golden Land.
One shall be, the resurrection of the souls of all the dead.
One shall be, even the resurrection of the lost love.
One shall be, to put the witch to sleep for all time.

Sleep peacefully, my most beloved witch, Beatrice.

* 鮎の川: This term can be read as "Sweetfish river". However, it can also mean "Bountiful river".

* The two (both occurence), those who remain: following the japanese meaning, these aren't always referring to people/persons, but can also refer to things.

* 黄金郷: Literally the land/village of gold, the meaning of this term is very close to the "El dorado" as the place is literally full of gold, hence Golden Land.

'Beloved hometown' The place which Kinzo loves isn't his birthplace as a human, but as a mage. That'd be the island. Since 'beloved' is empathized, I'd go as far as saying that is the secret mansion on the woods, where Beatrice lived, but that doesn't make sense with the next part:
'sweetfish river running through it' Fishes that go to the ocean to live, but eventually return to the river. Isn't that applicable to his siblings, who went to make family and business to the ocean, and eventually returned to the river to ask favors to him? If that's the case, then the hometown may refer to either the mansion or the whole island.

Give up. When Eva found the gold in the third chapter, she said that the answer was related to the number of characters on each word. You'll never solve it if you don't know Japanese.

2ch would've handled it already if it was the island itself, Ryukishi said you'd have to presume quite a few locations so it's most likely an actual place.

Also, Kinzo's birth as a magus was quite likely not in the island since he got the island after summoning Beato and obtaining the gold. That's a good clue though.

If it wasn't so drenched in Japanese wordplay, perhaps we could theorycraft, but it's a pointless endeavor for those of us who don't know Japanese.

It would be like trying to solve a jigsaw puzzle blindfolded.

If it isn't on the island, then how did Eva and Rosa found the gold that quickly? Or are we supposed to believe that it didn't happened? Are we going to ignore whatever doesn't go with our theories?

Eva and Rosa went there, so it has to be on the island, or at least there's some secret passage from the island to somewhere else to hell knows where. Sounds crazy? Yeah, well, I wouldn't pass grandfather.

Given kinzo's obsession with the west, the characters might be even dependent on romanji and whatnot. come on /jp/, show your prowess over both the english and japanese language is useful for word puzzles!
