Battler's blue truth fucked up Beato badly, Lambda resumed the game without her. Battler refused to play unless Beato was his opponent, because if he doesn't beat her he won't escape purgatory. Bern, taking Battler's place as the anti-fantasy player, creates Erika who becomes the new detective in the place of piece battler, who becomes unreliable and sees kinzo and shit like that because Battler isn't playing. Erika solves the epitaph and piece battler finds the gold. Piece battler gets a letter from Beatrice acknowledging him as the head of the family and the owner of the gold. Erika blames the first twilight on Natushi without any real evidence and ruthlessly pursues it. On the game board the family accepts that she's the culprit. Meta-Battler doesn't like Bern and Erika's methods. Erika denies Beatrice and so kills her. Battler joins the anti-mystery side in order to revive Beatrice and take the game back from Lambda and Bern, because only by beating Beato will he escape.

As far as detective-wannabes go, Erika in EP5 is as much as nuisance as Nana in Cartagra and would propably also mess up the game if the plot wasn't already that stupid.

Since there seems to be some confusion about this, both piece-Beato and meta-Beato die. After piece-Beato dies, meta-Beato, the catatonic one with long hair, crumbles and disappears as well. It's after this happens that Battler figures everything out and breaks down bawling.
