/jp/, would it be a huge mistake to quit my job and move to tokyo with enough money to last a few months in hope to get a lame job?

I speak a little japanese, hopefully enough to get by with the basics.

The end goal here to become fluent and get some kind of translater job or a teaching job.

Read in a thread months ago from someone in hokkaido that you'll feel lonely pretty soon so I suppose you'd have to be pretty sociable and make use of what japanese you know.

You can't get a job without a work visa. You can't get a work visa without a college degree.

Enjoy your poverty and homelessness.

Because there are laws in today's world about employment and you won't be legally able to work there. Ignoring that, there is the inconvenience factor of not being able to speak the language. How about you go anyway and hope to get a job as some sort of fish monger ~

The only way to get a job in Japan is to already have one before you go there, unless you plan on doing so illegally. And no, McDonalds is not going to sponsor a work visa for you.

Not only that, the only way (pretty much) of a gaijin getting an apartment is if the company "sponsors" him; japanese landlords won't let dirty gaijin rent from them.

for the most part, there are exceptions. but either way unless you're in some sort of company housing expect to pay a massive amount up front to get an apartment the size of a closet, by massive, that is, more than "enough money to last a few months"
