I tried looking up which concert ended up on the BD, Osaka or Tokyo, but didn't find any concrete answer. They might insert a bit of both in the end like they did for some prior concerts. If they do we might get a longer concert than the stream.

Despite the shorter length and Covid restrictions, I quite enjoyed it.
Meiko stole the concert and Kaito was as cool as ever. I also didn't expect an Utsu-P song and 命に嫌われている in the encore.

It's actually steadly growing for a few years now, though it will almost certainly never reach the golden age again (unless the new tech like AI singers and new engines really resonates with the audience). Many new voicebanks still being released (just the last 30 days we got Miku NT, Saki AI, KAFU), and more being announced, multiple concerts (though not world wide because of Corona, which hit Miku the hardest losing performances like Coachella and likely the Olympics), games (for Miku and co at least), new popular producers (like 23.exe, Kanaria, Maiki-P) and many old producers still actively making songs (this month we had a new Deco*27 album released for example).

Many old producers have left. Some are still around. There are plenty of new faces, some with very good songs, some who struggle to find an audience due to Youtube's algorithm.
I don't have the graph of songs published yearly, but it's slowly been going up for the past few years. Seconding what someone else said about not reaching the peak again. But the scene seems to be chugging along steadily. The audience is still there, and talented producers drop by to capitalize on that. Top producers can get millions of views, midrange gets 100k~900k, small fry get under that. There's a LOT of good material 2015~2020 that you missed.
On the idol front, many still have hardcore fanbases. Fanart is ubiquitous. However their presence isn't as emphasized anymore. You're more likely to hear a song using Miku's voice, but with a PV of her image.
On the software front, most companies are moving away from Yamaha's Vocaloid software because reasons. Several new companies have sprouted within the last year to make highly realistic AI voices. They gain some attention due to their quality, but none have reached meteoric fame yet. Crypton is currently developing proprietary software for Miku and friends. UTAU has a small, steady userbase. Old voicebanks are still the popular choice.

TL;DR: Smaller, but still good content.

Big drop for Sekka Yufu. Her dedicated fanbase was sizable for a while, but I think her timbre is out of fashion in general. Soft voices in UTAU have very strong, characteristic engine noise. It can be overpowering, difficult to mix, and she doesn't have enough character recognition for it to be worth it.

OP was talking about it as a software feature, so I assumed they were concerned with quality of life/workflow. I could see it being useful if you aren't writing quantized music.

I assume because it has to change the previous input to properly connect with the new one. When we are singing we technically already "input ahead" and each phoneme is already generated with the following one in mind, but if you're generating it then the keyboard doesn't know what you're playing next. The only solution I can think of would be if the key plays on release and not on press, so you can press the following input ahead so it already can generate the song with the proper connection (though the program will still not know beforehand for how long it will hold a note, which will cause issues as well).

I guess realtime Vocaloid is just too hard, unless it's coupled with some evolved vocalistener.

Cherry Pie is a voice changer though, at best it could work using a TTS software as an input. They could have something that works like say a python script where it inputs text and some params (like if it's happy, angry...) and outputs an audio file you can playback fast. This way it would be trivial to attach it to chat bots, robots of all kinds and custom VR Mikus. Though of course, none of that is Miku's purpose of being a virtual singer.
