If 'Tsukihime 2' ever did emerge it would be its own thing. I wouldn't be surprised if 'Tsukihime' was dropped from the title or moved to the subtitle. Shiki's story is over (the epilogue of Tsukihime is set after Tsukihime 2), but it doesn't mean he couldn't be a side character in Tsukihime 2.
Tsukihime 2 had the potential to be incredibly chuuni and a true denki fantasy piece (which is what Nasu supposedly really wants to write) without the constraints of a heroine route system or ero etc.

from the market's perspective, VNs are a dead genre. Unless the Tsuki RE sells ridiculously well, it just becomes the next Mahoyo. Something that actually had heart and soul behind its production, but wasn't profiteable enough to warrant "more like that".

The thing is, TM is neither a full market centered group nor a full doujin centered group.
In a sense I could say Nasu wish to return to doujin (from my interpretation of how he behaves on interviews), but Takeuchi or probably the bills demand market focus.
So the fact VN is a dead genre market wise will only be relevant for as long as they need to build money.
Considering how Nasu can't say no and Takeuchi actually can manipulate things to be at his will even if Nasu says "no" three times, than indeed things are dire.
Therefore, the only hope we can get is if Nasu man up already and the only good thing about is that as long as it keeps going on, this will only build up more and more pressure on Nasu.
